ZEESHAN'S POV

The black shoes cladding my feet created a rhythmic clicking against the tiles underneath as I paced to the elevator.

Upon hanging up on my manager, I glanced at the time, realising I was running late for my very own friend's engagement.

Prioritising professionalism over socialising, I focused on arranging the functions and the dinner party, which left me furious by the end due to a certain someone.

Despite having staff members to manage the tasks and the numerous guests who frequently came with new requests, I intended to personally ensure that everything was running smoothly, given how tense Kabir's girl, Mahi, was.

Pressing the button, I waited for its arrival. Once a ringing sound touched my ears, I stepped in and watched it descend to floors below. Soon, my gaze shifted from my reflection to the doors that slid opened upon reaching the ninth floor.

Aisha stood on the other side, greeting me with an irritated expression, her weariness evident as our eyes met.

Oh, isn't it absolutely wonderful!

With a mumbled remark, she entered the elevator, and I instinctively moved aside to give her room. She pressed the button for the ground floor, not noticing that it was already lit.

"You..."She muttered, squinting her eyes like a predator at its prey.

"Yes, me!" I replied in a hushed voice, a forced smile tugging at my lips.

"Why are you here?" she asked, turning towards me.

Isn't my kurta enough to prove the fact that I am also on my way to the ceremony...?

"Well, considering this is my hotel, I'm bound to be here," I explained, to which she rolled her eyes in response.

Is she always this irritating?

Possibly to confront me, she opened her mouth but was distracted by the flickering light of the elevator.

With our brows furrowed in confusion, we exchanged a puzzled glance before turning our attention to the yellow light placed above us.

What the hell–

The sudden jerk prompted a small gasp from her as the erratic noises overpowered the tunes playing earlier in the elevator. The violent shaking caused our heads to collide. Wincing, Aisha instinctively reached out for my shoulders and stumbled backward.

Unintentionally, I towered over her, my hands positioned on each side of her body to maintain some distance while the malfunction worsened.

With a jarring motion, the elevator came to a halt, dangling between two floors. Aisha opened her eyes, that she had closed in fear, and looked into mine. Worry and confusion lingered in her brown eyes as we stood helpless in an unexpected predicament.

The yellow light illuminated her face after the flickering stopped. Realising, how close we were, I stepped back.

What the fuck just happened?

After adjusting her dupatta, she glanced around in surprise. "What the hell, Zeeshan!" She whispered.

"What?" I breathed, perplexed.

"This is all your fault!" She exclaimed, pointing a finger at me.

I furrowed my brows in exasperation at the accusation, bewildered by her words.

Is she okay, or is she always like this?

"Right," I inched closer. "Because I personally designed this elevator just to trap us here. "

She tilted her head at the words, a curse word escaped her before retorting back in a hushed tone. "Good to know your designing skills match your hospitality skills."

How dare she!?

She can't just question my hospitality skills after being mean to me. Does she really expect me to be all sweet to her after she insulted the hell out of my hotel?

"I heard what you said, Mehra."

"I know, Oberoi!" She mocked. "Now stop arguing with me and press the emergency button, I can't stand being stuck here with you for another minute."

"I am not arguing, you are–"

With a groan, she interrupted me and pressed the emergency button herself. The sound of ringing blared through the elevator as it connected us to the control room.

She is so annoying.

"Hello." A voice echoed in the small room. I stepped forward.

"I am Zeeshan Oberoi and I am stuck here with another guest." I said, and he recognised me instantly.

"W-we will get someone to assist you, sir, as soon as possible."

"Okay, be quick."

"I can't believe I'm stuck here. I'm supposed to be with Mahi, but instead, I'm in this elevator." She complained, frowning.

I chuckled, "I am sure Mahi would understand, after all, who doesn't want to be stuck in an elevator with you?"

"Can you stop talking?"

"Can you just stop driving me crazy?"

"Can you please jump outside a window the second we are rescued?"

"And can you–"

This went on until the elevator was fixed and someone came for our rescue.
