soon, jenna and emma left while charlie and isla continued working. when it got late, isla's parents left her and charlie to clean up and close up the shop. so here they were, outside, closing up. isla had already wiped the tables as charlie swept and mopped the floor.

"i'm heading over to jenna's," isla announced, jiggling the keys in her hand then locking the door to the shop. "will you be okay on your own?"

"yeah, 'course," charlie nodded. "i'll be fine," she assured.

"hey," a familiar voice spoke, making them turn towards it. "myers?" charlie tilted her head, a small smile resting on her lips. "what're you doing here?" she questioned. "i was hoping you could walk with me, i just got back from the store," emma replied, then pursed her lips into a thin line.

charlie then turned to isla who gave her a teasing smile. "yeah, sure," charlie agreed with a smile. isla eyed the two, smiling hard. "well, looks like this is my cue to leave you guys alone," she playfully saluted and walked off.

charlie chuckled at her friend before walking up to emma. "lead the way, i'll walk you home," she said.

the two girls began their walk home to emma's house. either talking or just walking in a comfortable silence. the neighborhood was mostly quiet. crickets buzz, air conditioners whir, and the sound of their shoes on the ground as they walked.

"are your parents okay with you coming home late?" emma questioned, as they walked. "uhm, i don't think they care," charlie chuckled dryly. "they're not really around. always on business trips," she explained as emma nodded. "then who do you live with?" emma asked, turning to the taller girl.

"the housekeepers," charlie simply replied. "i don't get to see my parents often,"

"i'm sorry," emma bit her bottom lip, feeling bad for asking. charlie smiled and let out a small chuckle at the girl. "it's okay, and on the bright side, no curfew," charlie brighten up as emma smiled up at her.

it was not long until they finally arrived at emma's place. "uhm,"

"what did you wanna talk about?" charlie questioned, remembered how emma wanted to talk to her. "right," emma spoke, turning to charlie as they came to a stop in her front yard. "are you free tomorrow night? what time do you get off work?" she asked.

"hmm," charlie thought. "i get off at 6, but yeah i'm free after that," she answered, keeping one hand on her pocket and the other resting on the strap of her messager bag. "what's up?"

"i was wondering if you wanted to watch a movie with me, at my house," emma let out, fidgeting with her fingers. charlie's smile grew on her face, "i would love to,"

"really?" emma's eyes lit up at her answer. "what time do you want me to come over?" charlie asked after giving emma a nod in responce. "uh, is 7 okay?" emma tilted her head, feeling unsure. "my parents are going out around that time. it'll only be us and maybe my sisters," she informed.

charlie nodded, "great, i'll be there," she smiled. "uhm, you should head inside, i'm gonna go."

"right," emma nodded and pursed her lips, turning to walk towards the front door of her house. charlie watched as emma suddenly stopped and turned towards her for a bit. "hmm?"

emma scrunched her face before walking towards charlie once again again and planting a kiss on her right cheek. she had her hands on charlie's shoulders and went on her tip toes due to charlie's tall figure. charlie's eyes went slightly wide at the sudden affection.

when emma pulled away, hints of blush covering her cheeks, "text me when you get back?" she asked. charlie couldn't contain her smile and nodded. "goodnight, charlie,"

"goodnight,"

once emma got inside, charlie smiled and scrunched her face, before skipping away back home.

"charlie! there you are," one of charlie's housekeepers spoke up and gave her a small smile as soon as she walked inside the house. "i was worried about you,"

"mrs park," charlie called. "i'm really sorry, i should've called," charlie gave an apologetic look as mrs park simply waved her off. "it's okay," charlie took off her shoes, placing them in the shoe cabinet next to the front door. "have you eaten? do you need anything?" mrs park asked her. "yes, i've eaten. and uh, i'm okay,"

mrs park was always so nice to her. mrs park lived with her since she was a little kid, since her parents were so busy and always on business trips. she spent more time with mrs park than her own parents. charlie was always so grateful that she had mrs park with her. "don't forget to take your meds," mrs park reminded as charlie replied with a nod.

"it's getting late, i should wash up and head to bed," charlie announced. mrs park nodded in response. "okay, goodnight charlie," she walked up to charlie giving her a tight hug.

after, charlie had washed up and changed into her pajamas. grabbing her phone from her bedside table, she checked it and saw notifications of emma's messages, making her smile. charlie sat on her bed and opened up the messages.
