it was a day after the group's short stay at isla's beach house. charlie was at home, since isla's parents insisted her to take a break. so, there she was, in her bedroom. charlie sat up in bed, the soft light from the laptop screen reflecting on her face. she opened up the laptop to look back at photos and short videos that she took on her camera.

charlie shifted slightly, adjusting her position for comfort. the clock on the laptop screen shows that it's past noon. charlie glances at it a few times before returning to editing the videos on the screen.

charlie sighed, placing her laptop aside when she felt slight pain in her chest. charlie rub her chest a bit, trying to wave it off thinking she may be tired. charlie leaned back, trying to relax, but suddenly gasped, clutching her chest tightly, letting out a slight groan in pain before feeling the struggle to breath.

charlie stood up unsteadily, trying to make her way to the door, but her vision was getting blurry and her legs weaken. "m-mrs park!" she managed to let out before stumbling, falling against the floor, unconscious.

charlie's eyes fluttered open, blinking slowly as she takes in her surroundings. "where am i?"

that's when someone beside her look up in surprised. "charlie! you're awake!"

"isla? what happened to me?" charlie's hand went to her head, feeling slight pain. "mrs park found you unconscious," isla said worriedly. "the doctors ran some tests and said your heart disease is getting worse a-and you don't have long," tears ran down isla's cheeks. "why didn't you tell me you were going through that?" isla sobbed, grabbing charlie's hand in hers.

charlie never wanted to tell isla about her heart disease. she had it for a while but it wasn't that bad. doctors said she could still do sport or hard activities. she just never wanted isla to be worried.

"you’re stable now. the doctors say you’ll need some time to recover. you’ve been through a lot."

"i’m sorry for worrying you.” charlie bit a lip a bit, trying to stop herself from crying. "how long do i have?"

"a month,"

charlie's breath hitched, hearing isla's response. "doctors said it may be a miracle but you could still survive if you just take more medication and rest,"

"just focus on getting better. i’m here if you need me, bud," isla cried. "thank you, isla. i don’t know what i’d do without you."

"you don’t have to find out." isla assured. charlie nodded, "how long have i been here?"

"a week,"

"wait, wait. what's today's date?"

"july 1st. why?"

after a while, isla went home after mrs park insisted on taking care of charlie. besides isla already took care of her the whole week. charlie was left in her hospital room while mrs park went to get dinner for them.

with a sadden expression, charlie unlocks her phone and sees multiple missed calls and unread messages from emma that she already expected. the screen is filled with notifications.

she scrolled through the list of missed calls and read the string of urgent messages. it was all from emma.
