"It's only been a week, and you're so talented. You will find a job in no time." Shashwat radiated confidence. "Don't stress boogeyman"
"You're right. And don't call that b word" Ishaan's resume blinked at from his open laptop.
4.3 GPA from California University, NIDA Competition Winner. Four top tier internships. One year of job responsibilities at Burke Interiors, where Ishaan worked on several high profile hospitality including Burke's
A phenomenal brilliant. He was a catch. If only he could get someone to take the bait!
"You're right .." he repeated. "Thank you, for coming with me..."
"Stop being always silly boogeyman" he stopped. And Ishaan cockily pointed but shrugged knowing his friend can never take appreciations well!
"Ahan, well I'm being silly for job. I just need to be patient"
"Who knocked the sense in you as last I remember you were a sobbing mess" Shashwat wiggled his eyebrows and Ishaan glared intently at him."ah boogeyman, common you we're a mess ... aacha chodo sab aab you have plenty of time how about going on a club"
"You know I hate clubs"
"You or your glorious elder" Shahswat tapped his chin and he groaned.
"Oh damn"
Ishaan glared at him. He didn't hate, and they both knew it. It wasn't he blindly follows everything of Ekansh, but then he'd just been so into studies, work and fine it was all Ekansh!
Ishan swallowed the lump in his throat and twisted his watch around his wrist, shoving aside thoughts of devilish dark grey eyes.
The pain in chest wasn't as great as it used to be previously nights, but it was still there a lingering reminder of the person he'd never able to forget.
"He left you and still his liking disliking affects you"
"He didn't left. It's —It's —circumstances" Ishaan snapped out in stuttering and Shashwat nodded his head in total sarcastic manner.
"Yeah I see"
"Fine. Let's go to club. It's Long time."He was going to regret this, but once Shashwat got an idea in his head, he was like a pit bull with a bone (cannot take no, agree/give some one what they want)
"Woahhhhhhhhhhhh" Shashwat flipped the cushion in the air and clapped in excitement.
" I can't wait. It's about time your ass got some good moves"
Ishaans mojito went down wrong pipe, and he coughed for a full minute before gasping "leave my ah leave you idiot"
"Aye, you're red. Boogeyman everyone has as—"
"Shutup shashi! you're fired as my best friend"
"Not accepted boogeyman" Shashwat said cheerfully, flashing his grin. "I've never been fired in life and today is definitely not the day to break the trend"
This is what I get for living with best friends.
He and Shashwat had shared a tiny apartment since in college to India. In Short Shashwat was always his ride or die and he wouldn't have it any other way.
Expect in other situations Ishaan tempted to speed up the "die" part, like right now.
Ishaan's phone rang interrupting his daydreams of strangling his roommate, eventhough everything Shashwat said was true (hence why it is so annoying)
He didn't recognise the number. It was probably a telemarketer but even a cold call was better than discussing his ass moves.
"Hello"
"Hi, is this Ishaan?"
His brows knit in confusion. "Yes, Ishaan speaking. Who's this?" The deep baritone sounded somewhat familiar. After effects of India.
"This is ADYAH EKANSH, THE AE " The answer almost sent Ishaan into another coughing fit.
"Who is it?" Shashwat mouthed
Ishaan shook his head, his mind racing with a thousand possibilities. What the hell was The Adhay doing calling his personal cell. The second name of Adhay was always been a mystery in media and same for Ishaan. But right he was more shock the industrialist ADHAY called him.
Was there a problem in his hotel?
"Hello???"
Ishaan realised he hadn't answered yet. "Yes mein. I mean, no. I mean, hi." He swatted at shahswat whose expression morphed from curious to amused at Ishaan's fumbling response.
"How did you get my number?"
He winced. The question came out ruder than he'd intended.
"I called Burke industry and they told me you no longer work there. I had been given your personal cell." Adhay sounded apologetic and Ishaan's smile was on ninth cloud. "I realise I may be overstepping my boundaries, I'm sorry for calling so late." And Ishaan eyes confused but then he wasn't in New York it's IST now. And he didn't change his profile status.
Agh no.
"It's okay. Well im in India. We are saying same lawsuits and I decided to purse other opportunities outside Burke" Non existent ones.
I'm jobless, and I'm showing off like I have plenty of opportunities begging me to take. Ishaan shut his mind thought, it wasn't the Adhay to know them.
"Is something wrong with the hotel?"
"No, the hotel 's great. In fact you did such a good job. I wanted to see if you'd help in mine personal project. I recently buy an apartment for my children's . But I'm not that good to decorate" Adhay laughed.
"Em I need an interior designer, and I think you'd be great fit. If you have time of course"
Ishaan clutched his phone so hard he heard it crack. Every word out of Adhays mouth sent him down spiralling down another tunnel of shock, disbelief and excitement.
"You want me. The great AE wants me."
What are you doing? Ishaan mind screamed. Don't sabotage yourself! (Meaning: Don't make yourself of fool in front of him)
But Ishaan didn't understand why the heir to one of the country's largest hotel chains was seeking him out for a project.
"It's unorthodox" Adhay acknowledged. "But like I said you stood out the hotel project, and your personality er better suited than your colleague, Virat"
Finally someone believed the hard-work honesty. Not everyone is Neil or like Virat's grandfather.
"I realise this is short notice but I'll pay twenty percent above full rate and —"
"I'll do it."
