"So like are you going to come over or what?" I look over at him once more.
"I mean, sure I guess." I speak back, a little shocked that I'm in this predicament.
"You guess?" The smirk on his face holds amusement tighter than a baby grips hair.
"You know exactly what you're doing." teasing me.
"Sweetheart, if you don't want to come you don't have to." he leans into my window a little more. "I'll buy you Cane's?" he negotiates.
Mmm canes do sound tasty.
"You've got yourself a deal, meadows."
"And here i thought you actually liked my company, you just hang out with me because of the food." he jokes walking to the driver side of his car, which was parked right beside mine.
I laugh in response. Jase knows better. I actually do enjoy his company. He keeps my mind distracted whenever I'm around him. It had only been a couple days since we met, but the friendship has sprouted into something cute.
I'm not going to say all of the kids from East Hamp are annoying but I mean majority are, and while we did have a good meet que, i just thought it was because of Remmy being there. Then he ended up calling me the day after and the conversation just kind of flowed. We talked about all types of things, animals, sports, girls, and we touched slightly on my recent break up but i didnt wanna spread the deets yet.
While Jase is extremely and i mean extremely handsome, I can't help but compare him to the boy who plagues my mind at night when I try to sleep.
I keep close to his car as we drive to his home. His neighborhood looks similar to the ones in my area. If i am guessing correct i'm only about 30ish minutes away from my house.
"Welcome to mi casa." he says once we are out of our cars and inside.
"Thank you, are your parents around?" the foyer is decorated with pictures of his family. Its easy to tell cause he looks exactly like both if his parents.
"Nah , they are currently in Australia for a business trip" he answers as he tosses his key into the bowl.
He leads the way to his room, which isn't a far walk. His room is nice, very simplistic which i like. His walls are black. Never seen anything like this but i can dig it. It definitely is making everything in the room stand out more. In the middle of the room is his king size bed which is covered with an off white linen comforter.
"Oh your fancy" i say as i take in the rest of his room.
"I like what i like" he says with a simple shrug.
"I can dig it."
I walk over to the other side of his room and plop down into one of the bean bag chairs. He grabs our food from his desks and makes his way over to the same area im in.
"Alright let's talk." he says plopping down in the seat across from mine.
"And what are we talking about today, jasey pooh?"
"Ew don't call me that ugly name." he says scrunching up his face.
I laugh before speaking once again. "Why not? I think it's fitting for you."
"I think not," he quickly wips back.
" Jase you're literally a teddy bear fam" i deadpan
"You know what i'm not even finna argue with you lil girl"
"People find out your age and now they wont shut up" i say. He had just recently, literally yesterday, found out he was a year older than me.
" cut the attitude missy." he says. He gets up and tosses his tash into the trash can, before sitting back down, only now he's a lil closer.
After a moment of me smacking on my chicken tenders he speaks again, "have you caught up on love island?"
"Nooo, i've had no time at all since ive started back practicing and training for the game on
Friday." i grumble.
I've been soooo behind. I'm literally stuck on episode 9, only one person has left the villa and it was Coye. Like Jana did my mans dirty and for whaaaa for a white man.... Well shoot i guess i cant talk too much cause look at me.
"Shame on you sweetheart, and speaking of that game, do i get an invite or what ?"
His eyes bounce around my face as he waits for me to answer. I mean why wouldn't I want him to come, I would consider him a good friend. My parents have met him in passing, Rem and Cat get on with him well. I mean why not.
"Of course you're invited." i answer back
"Good , I already bought my ticket. Now let's watch love island before you have to leave me." he says, picking me up from my seat and tossing me in the bed. He dims his lights before hopping in beside me.
I lie in bed next to jase, half-watching Love Island USA but mostly lost in my own thoughts. Jase is sweet, attentive, and incredibly attractive. He makes me laugh effortlessly, and his presence brings me comfort in ways I hadn't expected. He's been there for me through so much lately, always ready with a kind word or a shoulder to lean on.
But then there's Marc. Even now, his memory lingers like a shadow. I remember his smile, the way he held me close, the intensity of our connection. It's a pull that I can't seem to escape, no matter how hard I try.
I glance at Jase beside me, his eyes fixed on the TV. He deserves someone who can give him their whole heart, someone who isn't torn between past and present.
As the drama unfolds on the screen, I find myself lost in a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. Part of me wants to fully embrace what jase offers — stability, care, and a future that seems promising. But another part of me yearns for the passion and familiarity I once had with Marc.
Closing my eyes, I take a deep breath, trying to find clarity in the midst of my internal turmoil. Tonight, I'll enjoy jase company, grateful for his presence and the way he makes me feel. But in the quiet of the night, I know I'll continue to wrestle with my feelings, uncertain of what the future holds for my heart.
