" You coming to the after party after this right?" Rem asks as he slips on his hoodie. The girls volleyball team had just won their last regular season game, now it was time for the sweet sixteen.

"Uh, I wasn't planning on it." I honestly didn't want to go. I still havent talked things out with Rella and I don't want to see her with Meadows, I actually would lose my mind. Just seeing him at this game has made me want to kill someone.

Dragging my feet on talking to her also isn't helping the situation. I just don't know what to do. I could call her, I could text her, but what do I even say? I don't have an answer for her. I still can't be direct so what even is the point?

"You should, you need to get out more. You can't stay cooped up all because of that midget."

He's not lying

" alright, but if I end up fighting somebody, that's on you." i stand up to make my way out of the crowded seats.

"Rem my boy wassup" the voice behind me is one i know well. One I don't want to hear. Just when I thought I had gotten away without having to acknowledge his presence.

"Meadows my boy" rem responds, dapping him up. Such an opp.

"Rossi, I see you in a new color this year." he comments to me.

"Yep," I murmur, my response clipped and terse. While they continue their conversation, my gaze shifts towards the entrance of the locker room, and there she appears. As always, Gabriella looks stunning with her curly hair cascading down her back. Clad in oversized black sweats and a hoodie that seems oddly familiar, she chats amicably with her teammates, nodding and flashing that smile I've missed dearly. Memories flood back — her scent, the way she used to gaze at me — everything about her.

Suddenly, as if sensing my stare, Gabriella turns her head sharply in my direction. Our eyes lock, and this time, I refuse to break the gaze. I yearn to have her back in my life. Without hesitation, I start moving towards her across the gym. In this moment, it feels like the world has shrunk to just the two of us. My focus narrows solely on her. Each step towards her feels both eternal and fleeting; she's only a few strides away now.

As I take a few steps closer, her attention suddenly shifts to someone beside her. Glancing over, I see Jase Meadows, the bane of my existence, sweeping her up. My steps falter as I watch the two of them.

My jaw tightens as I watch Gabriella and Meadows engrossed in conversation across the room. Jealousy simmers within me, mixing with a pang of hurt and a surge of anger. I clench my fists, trying to ignore the knot tightening in my chest.

They look so comfortable together. she laughs at something Meadows says, her eyes sparkling in a way that used to be reserved for me. I can't help but wonder what they talk about when I'm not around, what jokes they share, what secrets they confide in each other.
