RIO AWOKE, LIGHT STRAINING HIS EYES. He sat up, expecting to see the familiar scene of his cohort bunk. Instead, he saw what looked to be a sick bay. Someone must have taken him to Camp Jupiter's infirmary after he'd passed out, but it didn't look the same, he was gone for quite a while. Wait, had he passed out? The last thing he remembered was staring into someone's eyes, feeling like he could get lost in them forever.

Lying in the bed next to him was golden boy, Jason Grace. His forehead was rapped in bandages, and he'd looked like he'd taken a nasty shot to the head with a brick. Much like Rio's, but for a very different reason.

He'd better go find Reyna, she's probably heard that he's returned. Rio frowned. She'd want to know how the quest went. He was not ready for that discussion yet, but he might as well get it over with.

Slowly, he climbed out of the strangely comfortable bed, he doesn't remember the infirmary beds being this soft.

Rio exits the room and hikes up the stairs of the strange building. He definitely doesn't remember there being stairs.

Once up the long staircase, he's greeted with an even longer hallway, with doors left and right. He peeked into one of the rooms to see a small bedroom, with nothing but a bed, a desk, a dresser for storage, and a lamp. It was quite plain, and didn't look to be in use.

He scurried down the rest of the hallway and up the next case of stairs. He opened the door and the top of the steps, and stepping out into the sunlight glaring in his eyes.

What he saw shook him to the core. He was, in fact, not in Camp Jupiter anymore. Instead, he was on what seemed to be a ship.

What the shit? Rio thought. Where was he?

Memories hit him like a wave of cold water. The war ship. The bracelet. The boy. Oh, you've got to be kidding me.

There, standing on the plank above him, handling the steering wheel, was a short, Latino boy. He had curly hair and eyes that screamed 'Don't let me anywhere near sharp objects.' "Oh, you're up!"

Rio didn't know what to say, or do for the matter. Should he say something back? No, these guys kidnapped him! But the boy doesn't look like the kidnapping type. Should he run? Yeah, that's usually the norm with Rio. Just run. He could jump off the boat.

Rio took one more unsettling look at the brown haired boy, then bolted towards the side of the ship.

He ran to the edge, his legs pumping faster than a cheetah, another perk of being a child of Mercury, he was pretty fucking fast.
