chapter one. fuck you, oliver wood!
"OH, FOR FUCK'S SAKE, AIDEN!"
Let it be known to the world that Addy Flemming was nowhere near a morning person. She was actually more like a morning nightmare, a trait that she had gotten from her mother, and had only been intensified by her aunt, once she moved her bags into the Flemming household just a couple of years ago.
Addy opened her eyes, groaning with annoyance, and a little bit of pain. Her blue eyes had seen the light of the world for approximately one millisecond before she shut them again, due to the shocking force of eleven year old Aiden Flemming colliding with her worn out body from above her. She always forgot how strong, and rather painful, Aiden was when he was excited.
Today, he was more excited than he'd ever been.
"Aiden Michael!"
The booming voice of Eleanor Hawthorne, the Flemming sibling's maternal aunt, rung through Addy's sanctuary of a bedroom as she ran over to the scene she had just walked into, placing her hands on Aiden's frail body and yanking him with much more force than needed, off of his older sister. Aunt Eleanor, who was lovingly nicknamed Aunt Elle by the three kids since they could talk, was Addy's saving grace as she felt the forces of her brother's body being pulled off of her, allowing her to sit up in her bad and wrap her comforter around her body, which was shivering.
"Merlin, Aunt Elle." Addy muttered as she opened her eyes again, noticing the presence of three out of four of her family members standing somewhere in her bedroom. "Turn the temperature down, would you?"
Aiden was wrapped in Elle's arms, giggling as he pressed up against her body. Elle was obviously standing right beside him, a mischievous grin on her face as she held the boy in place, and Ainsley Flemming was leaning against the doorway, her small arms crossed in front of her chest as she rolled her eyes so far back into her head, Addy thought she might just faint.
"Lunch is ready, Addy." Ainsley told her sister as she threw her hands up and walked out of the room. Addy nodded as she brushed her entangled blonde hair out of her face and looked over at Aiden, who had managed to wrangle free from their aunt's arms and was now standing perched beside his older sister's bed, a maniacal smile on his face as he held a piece of parchment in his hands
It was his school supply list that had arrived a few days ago, along with his red-crested acceptance letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. His twin sister, Ainsley, had received an identical one, and Addy had received her fifth one, commemorating her fifth year at Hogwarts.
Addy had never taken kindly to school, even when she was just a young girl beginning muggle school up the road. She came home everyday with papers flying askew out of her bookbag, and never managed to turn a single thing in on time. Her parents, Mattheo and Eloise Flemming had chalked it up to the fact that their daughter was bored at school, and that she would flourish academically once she met her match at Hogwarts, where they had met over a decade ago. Wishful thinking by the Flemming parents, because Addy's study habits never changed.
Addy reached out and ruffled her younger brother's hair, a feverish smile approaching on her face as she realized how excited he was about the day ahead of them – the day that Aiden and Ainsley would join Addy and her best friend, Adrian, at Diagon Alley.
