chapter three. and so it begins
7:00 IN THE MORNING ALWAYS CAME WAY TOO EARLY FOR ADDY FLEMMING
The first day of classes was always a slap in the face with reality to the girl, due to the fact that Addy was absolutely, positively, not a morning person. And she took full advantage of that trait during the summer. As fun as it was waking up at noon for the last three months, the first week or so of school kicked Addy's arse. Hard.
"Get. Up."
Carina Malfoy was a morning person, more or less. Meaning that she wasn't an absolute nightmare to deal with in the early hours, much like her roommate. The blonde girl now stood above her best friend, her hands perched on her hips disapprovingly as Addy grumbled and pulled her duvet above her head to cover herself in complete darkness.
Carina yanked the blanket off of the bed entirely about one second later.
"Fuck you."
However, pulling the duvet off of the sleeping fifteen year old had proven to be successful, because Addy forced herself out of bed and into the shower. Getting up and moving was a daunting task for Addy, but everything else was easy. Her uniform sped things up in the mornings, and she was a minimal makeup girl. By about 8:15am, Addy was ready to go down for breakfast.
Well, she was ready physically. Mentally, she was irritated with the mere thought of her eyes being open, and she was grateful that she resided in the dungeons, where no natural light made its way into her bedroom.
When Addy finally opened the door of her and Carina's shared bathroom, she found her roommate sitting on her own bed, legs crossed and her book bag by her side. It was evident that Addy was holding the pair up.
"Finally." Carina huffed as she stood up and flung her bag over her shoulder. "Let's go."
Addy grimaced, strutting over to her bedside to grab her own book bag, which was laying on the ground beside her bed, the contents spilling out of it. She didn't bother to pack it last night. The pair of friends walked down the staircase into the Slytherin common room to find Adrian Pucey sitting on the couches waiting for them, his torso laid against the couch cushions and his legs planted rather far apart from each other.
"I was one minute away from leaving both of you." Adrian declared once he saw the two girls coming down the stairs, grabbing his own bag in his right hand as he stood up.
"As if." Addy retorted, and the three Slytherins walked out of the dungeons and began the jaunt to the Great Hall, which was a rather lengthy one considering where their common room was.
The Great Hall was always much too loud for Addy in the mornings, especially on the first day of classes. First years were way too excited, and everyone else was busy trying to gather their schedules and compare them with their friends. If Addy had it her own way, she would come down at 8:55 and not a second earlier. But, Carina Malfoy would never allow that.
"Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, Ads!" Carina would remind her with a faux pep in her voice, and Addy would usually roll her eyes and tell her best friend to piss off.
The trio made it to the Great Hall around 8:25, which gave them just enough time to collect their schedules. They were later than most students, which gave the three of them the benefit of a short line to get to Severus Snape for the piece of parchment paper that told them what their life was going to consist of for the next nine months. They stepped in front of their Head of House, and he greeted each of them with a monotonous "good morning" and passed them their schedules without another word.
