It was incredible how fast the last few weeks went by, it was still warm on the calm island placed in the most hidden corners of Scarif, it seemed as if the summer there was eternal. That led to fun days with Obi-Wan, Anakin and Kira, enjoying the time at the beach, going into the depths of the vast jungle or just training by the shore.
Iris never felt so alive, she was truly happy, after all it had been almost four months since she left her mansion in Coruscant because of the war. Even if in the beginning Iris was a bit scared of all the things she had to keep secret in order to make her father happy, she was beginning to attach less importance to them, she just had to block her mind. Being with the Jedi and Kira also showed her what friendship really was, and even if she spent long hours with Obi-Wan she also had time to laugh at Anakin's or Kira's jokes and silly things they did.
What she cherished most was spending time with the auburn-haired Jedi, he was caring and intelligent, even if Anakin had a completely different opinion. Iris learnt a lot when she walked with Obi-Wan on the shore, they did it every day at dusk, when the sun was going down and the galaxy would shine with hundreds of stars and constellations in the night sky.
Sometimes Iris imagined what her life would have been if she was trained to be a Jedi, even knowing that being a Sith is to take a more permissive view on emotions and attachments. Iris imagined that because, deep down, she wanted to be always with Obi-Wan, but she feared that when the war ended he would finish his mission and they would never meet again.
"Iris, is everything alright?" Obi-Wan asked, awakening her from her thoughts.
She didn't realize that she was lost again in her thoughts during her walk with Obi-Wan, the sound of the sea and the warm colors of the twilight made her think about her deepest desires.
"I'm so sorry Obi-Wan, you know me," Iris answered, she was embarrassed, she was wasting her time alone with Obi-Wan just by thinking about scenarios that would never happen.
"Do not worry Iris, tell me, what's on your mind?" Obi-Wan said with curiosity while walking by her side.
Iris had enough confidence in him to speak almost freely of what she thought. "Well, I was just imagining what my life would be like in the Jedi temple. You know that I was trained in the power of the force and light at home so I've never known anyone my age who could talk to about my troubles with learning about the light side of the force."
Obi-Wan just chuckled. "That is fair, Iris, of course you would be curious about the day in the Jedi temple, talking about the time there. I was brought there when I was only an infant. I trained with other younglings but it was never easy for me, you see Iris, my midi-chlorian level is quite low so I had to train day and night to keep up with my classmates. But then at the age of thirteen I was chosen as Qui-Gon's padawan and from there we never stopped going on missions."
Iris was filled with awe, how could Obi-Wan have a low level of midi-chlorians if he was one of the most powerful Jedis she knew.
"And it annoys me sometimes when Anakin thinks he is better than the others or that he doesn't need to train as hard because he belongs to the more advantaged, I try to talk with him and make him realize but after all he is still a teenager and these are the things you only learn with time," Obi-Wan concluded.
By the time Obi-Wan finished, they arrived at the hut where Anakin and Kira were making dinner.
"No, Ani that's wrong!" Kira shouted to poor Anakin who tried his best to cut the vegetables in little squares while Kira was stirring the soup in the pot. They were still unaware of Iris and Obi-Wan's presence.
