joostklein You're not ready for the boom boom #Eurovision2024

Fenne double-tapped the picture of Joost and Stuntje. She scrolled down to the comments and started typing on her screen's keyboard.

fenney_meer Boom boom?

She wondered if maybe her recent advances in her English were a sham. Ever since touching down in the UK, Fenne had been getting better. She was able to order her own food and everyone at Spirit Productions was very patient with her. But when reading Joost's Instagram post, accompanied with the particularly handsome picture of himself and Stuntje, Fenne questioned her progress.

As she was about to put her phone away, it vibrated with a notification. Her comment had a direct reply and she could have guessed who it was from.

The car emoji that followed did nothing for Fenne's sanity. She still didn't know what Joost was talking about or how it related to cars.

Shoving her phone into her pocket, Fenne pushed herself off the case. The backstage area was big enough for her to never be in the way. It was bigger than the fesitvals Fenne had filmed at before and there wasn't an ounce of chaos.

Everything ran smoothly because there were three workers for every job. If it weren't for the crowd that could be heard no matter how far you were from the grounds, Fenne would have been stood in silence.

She was all for organisation. Her camera was ready and Spirit Productions had kept her well fed and watered. They took care of everything and Fenne even had time to watch each artist head to the stage. Their entourage of makeup artists and stage directors were calm, something that Fenne rarely saw with Joost's team.

It was great, so why did Fenne hate it so much?

'Fenne? You're on with Keane,' Daniel was Fenne's guide for the show and she perked up at his English voice.

'Okay, I'm ready!' she said, hoping her accent wasn't too strong. The man nodded and turned to other workers who dawned the same white lanyard as them. It was easy for Fenne to make her way around the stage when everyone she needed to speak to wore 'SPIRIT PRODUCTIONS' around their neck.

Walking at the back of the group, Fenne should have been excited. She had the time to prepare, to think and to fangirl over one of her childhood bands, Keane. But she couldn't think about anything except how good it would be if Joost and the team were here.

They would most likely be screaming at each other way past the call time. Joost would be running, Stuntje probably would have fallen over, Nathan and Apson would have doubled over laughing at the sight, and Teun would be the only one already at the DJ booth on stage. There would be so much chaos and Joost would still find the time to grab Fenne and kiss her for good luck.

The festival staff would cringe at the disorganisation of Albino Sports, but every year, they would be invited back because Joost's performance drew the biggest crowd.

'Alright, Fenne, your camera is hooked up to that screen,' Daniel said, pointing to the display of the current artist. They stood off to the stage's side, hidden from the never-ending crowd, and Keane prepared next to them.

'Just do your thing. You've got full creative freedom with this.'

Fenne hoped she didn't look completely lost. Daniel spoke quickly and she did her best to keep up. It was like when Joost had too many Monster Energies and decided to run from one end of the stage to the other during Buurman. At least then, Fenne could just stand in the middle and film him with rhythmic twists of her middle.
