This story is one of pain and suffering, and of course Kion has had his fair share of it. From birth, he was considered as the runt of the litter and his mother left him to die. His mother had other children anyway, including the son of Scar. Kovu, who was destined to continue a legacy so Kion wasn't given more than a name before being left to rot.
Flashback...
After screaming and a long and hard labour, Zira gave birth to young Kion. She glared at him with disgust before her husband came in. A genuine smile on his face until he saw his son.
"Zira, what is this?!", he half asked, half yelled to his wife.
She was desperate to make up an excuse, saying that it wasn't her who was in labour and that it was a lioness called Grace's cub. "Scar, Grace's cub will not stay here. In fact, we must banish them both!"
"Yes, my darling. Yes!", he confirmed evilly. "Grace, leave and take your pathetic cub with you."
As he proceeded to spit insults which are far too inappropriate for a story-teller to repeat, Grace ran away, tears in her eyes whilst carrying Kion. Rain poured down, lightning struck trees and Grace lost her vision, proceeding to trip near a ravine.
Kion fell in, with no chances of survival as she blindly ran across the flooded Outlands. Never to be seen again...
As for Kion, he was falling to his death. And right as he was going to reach the bottom, his fall was broken by a soft bird's nest on the ground. His vision became darker, his hearing muffled and his final sight was of a bird looking at him curiously before he passed out.
Further In The Future...
In the light of day, Kion was feasting on his scraps whilst Jamala was eating some berries, fake tears in her eyes.
"What's wrong Jamala?", Kion asked her, concern in his voice as he stopped eating to turn his attention to her.
"Oh Kion, I have to fly away for the Winter. But I'll be back soon. I promise.", she assured him, secretly trying to break his heart. After everything she'd done: taught him to speak, hunt and just live life to the fullest, it was all just to break his heart and leave him with no one. She wasn't evil, she just wanted him to suffer like she had and do it on his own. She never had anything, after all.
"Okay. What should I do?", he asked and she smiled at him evilly. Hyenas were closing in on him subtly.
"Oh, just wait here. Okay. Bye.", she called out before setting off, laughing diabolically into the horizon.
Kion just watched her go, until a hyena came up to him. "Hello there Kion."
It was Janja and his two minions, Cheezi and Chungu. "What do you want Janja?"
"To get rid off an annoying lion cub, right fellas.?"
"Yeah, Janja. You're so right.", said Chungu, sounding a little disorientated.
"Oh Janja, can we sing afterwards. Something like, Kion is gone, Kion is gone, doo doo doo...", Cheezi began, annoying Janja.
"Zip it furbrain. We have him surrounded."
Kion was a good fighter, but other hyenas came out of nowhere and lunged at him. He fended them off, before running away, towards the Pride Lands. Despite them following, his speed gave him a slight advantage. Eventually, he had made it by a watering hole beside a small cluster of trees, but he was exhausted. The hyenas had caught up, some of them catching their breath whilst others hunted down animals but had no success. From above, an egret named Ono was leading the Lion Guard over to the scene.
Kion had nowhere to go, his heart was pounding and he wanted to just let all his emotions go in one simple roar. "Then do it. Roar.", called the voice of Askari in Kion's head.
Suddenly, Kion took a fighting stance, closed his eyes and roared. It was so loud that even Jamala heard it and instantly flew away faster.
The Lion Guard looked to Kiara, who had the gift of the roar but hadn't used it. Yet they still saw Janja's crew flying across the plains.
"Lion Guard, we need to find out where that roar came from", Kiara ordered.
"Kiara, it came from the watering hole.", Ono informed his team as they raced away. By the time they'd made it there, Kion, who saw a lion about 2 years older than him and a cheetah, honey badger, and hippo about the same age as him as well as an egret who was a year younger than him, was hiding away. He was well and truly exhausted. And Ono quickly spotted him. Guys, there's a lion over there, behind those rocks.
Kiara approached him in a friendly manor, asking who he was. "Hi, I'm Kiara. What's your name?"
"Kion."
They group smiled at him, noticing the resemblance between him and Kopa.
"Kion, can you come with us please?", Kiara asked and he nodded. He followed the Lion Guard, unaware of what was waiting for him.
Present Day... (4 years later)
Kion sat in his den by the watering hole, listening as his neighbours complained to King Simba, Queen Nala, Prince Kopa and the Lion Guard about how they thought Kion was a threat. Recently, the complaints have increased even though he hasn't done anything wrong. The King looked annoyed and had said that there would be a meeting deciding Kion's fate. He shot Kion a dirty look and walked away.

After a few hours, the event came and it was a majority vote. Which wasn't very fair as everyone voted that Kion be exiled due to complaints. Usually, Kion would've been able to defend himself, but Simba had over-ruled that before he began talking. Kopa laughed evilly, Simba ordered the Lion Guard to chase him out of the Pride Lands and ended the meeting. Reluctantly, Kiara and her guard chased him out, hot on his trail. Fuli caught up to him easily and tried to get a slash in. But Kion dodged it with speed that almost rivalled Fuli's. He head-butted her into Bunga, causing Beshte to stop moving otherwise he'd fall on them. Ono wasn't a problem, but Kiara was. She roared at him, but he roared back and whoever could hold out longer would win. Kiara had been using the roar for longer, but Askari was guiding Kion, and he managed to send her all the way back to Pride Rock, with Ono being caught in the blast.
Kion had an opening and ran, not stopping until the Pride Lands were out of sight. And within the clouds above, a concerned Mufasa watching Kion run away, realising that the evil which was just around the corner could no longer be prevented.
Kion's P.O.V
I hadn't stopped running until I reached a small cave. I was alone again. In all my 13 years of life, I've never been able to call someone family. Or even a friend. I thought the Lion Guard were, but they tried to kill me. I mean, I was dropped off a cliff, left to die to some hyenas, exiled due to being different and now had no home at all. Life couldn't get much worse.
It was really dark, and there was no food apart from some fish. Maybe I'd eat fish like I did in the Pride Lands. The watering hole always had plenty, so maybe here does too.
I looked around, watching as a pile of dead fish sat beside some fruit.
"That's not suspicious at all.", I called out stupidly, but got no reply. I needed food so I took a little bit. 2 fish and 2 mangoes. More than I'd ever eaten before, because those greedy Pride Landers only ever left 1 fish for me. I ate it, and it was delicious. But I was tired so I fell asleep, wondering if I'll ever fit in anywhere.
