The New Lion Guard - Pt 3

Kion's P.O.V

I was awake before Rani, and heard Surak was up, talking with Nirmala about this new Lion Guard thing. I made my way through the Tree of Life, soaking up the orange rays of the sun as they crept through the cracks like mice in the floorboards. The vintage, coco bean-coloured roots of the Tree which previously glowed a neon yellow yesterday whilst I was being healed made their way around the underground sections of the Tree. You'd never know that this was here without venturing within yourself. Sage green vines draped across the walls, concealing the entrances to different sections, covering up paintings and growing across the ceiling and quite literally connecting to their natural roots.

Once I'd located where the voices were coming from, I walked in, much to their surprise. "Morning Kion, are you alright?", Nirmala asked me kindly and warmly, sort of like an embrace which you loved to be wrapped up in and couldn't quite bring yourself to leave even if it was too tight because it made you feel safe in life. I was new to it but could tell that I liked it very much.

"Yeah, I was awake and heard you talking about that new Lion Guard thing.", I told them in response.

"Yes, we aren't quite able to figure out who the new leader and new member is.", Surak said.

"How come?", I asked, wanting to know more.

"Well, Rani is going to be Queen and I imagine that your relationship is only going to blossom.", Nirmala said making me blush. "Kiara is going to be Queen of the Pride Lands if we can defeat Scar and the way that things are going, her and Kovu seem to be getting pretty close according to what I saw earlier, which takes them out of the picture. Vitani could be the new leader as she easily has what it takes, but the new role is still unknown."

I suddenly heard this voice in my head. It was that voice which was never wrong, and was telling me that a bird called Anga would take Ono's place, and yet Ono would stay.

 "Is there a bird called Anga here?", I asked curiously.

"Yeah, how did you know?", Nirmala asked me this time, and it occurred to me that the only other person that hears these voices is Rani, or at least as far as I know.

"This voice, has always been in my head and tells me things. It guides me to places, people, and good luck. Rani hears them too, and hers lead her to meeting me. Otherwise we would've never met.", I explained, captivating their attention like a magnet pulling in precious metals.

"A voice, you say. Interesting...", Surak began. "Well, what did the voice say about Anga?"

"That she would take Ono's place, and yet Ono would stay on the guard.", I told him and he pondered on what this meant.

"Well, I guess that if Vitani becomes the new leader, Anga becomes the keenest of sight but Ono keeps his spot, it makes sense! This is the new Lion Guard!", Nirmala declared a little too loudly as we could see Rani awake and looking really tired, making us laugh.

"What's so funny?", she asked me as she walked over to me.

"Nothing babe, nothing at all.", I told her.

"Okay.", she replied with a yawn, looking to Surak and Nirmala for some information on what was going on.

"So Rani, today Baliyo is going to admit to his crimes and then we're gonna announce who we think the new Lion Guard are.", Nirmala told her.

"So you're gonna have to wake up and get ready.", Surak joked playfully as Nirmala followed her out to go get breakfast.

Surak and I followed, and once outside the once titian sun had transformed itself into golden rays of hope and joy, a beacon of hope that we could make it through the darkness, coming out stronger than ever before.
