The New Lion Guard - Pt 1

Kiara's P.O.V

I finally understood how Kion felt. We were chased out of our own home, watching as Scar easily conquered it. Mom and Dad aren't even here. I guess that's good because Scar would definitely kill them.

"Fuli, we need to regroup with the others.", I told my best friend.

"Yeah but if we go back in we'll be killed. The others will be fine. I promise.", she assured me with an unconvincing, fake smile. It was almost as if she was trying to convince herself as well.

"I hope you're right.", was all I could reply with because out of nowhere, a flying Bunga leapt onto Fuli's back and Ono came crashing into my fur. Beshte came running along at a speed admirable for a hippo. They looked exhausted, defeated.

"Guys, I'm sorry. I've failed you all.", I told them with guilt.

"No Kiara, we all failed. We failed the Pride Lands. We've lost.", Ono replied, trying to take the wait of my shoulders but the fact that the Pride Lands was lost was too much to take.

"It is not yet lost.", a mysterious voice called out. We all heard it, and all looked up in awe.

"Grandfather?", I asked to which he smiled and nodded. "What do you mean? We lost. Were forced to run away"

"Your father had to run away. But he came back and won. Besides, you cannot forget that you all kicked Kion out. As did we with Scar. You and I have abandoned those who needed us. Those who lost or never even gained happiness." , he stopped to take a break.

"Taka died the day he was bitten by a snake, whilst Kion was born by you hating him. And that is why Kion, and a lioness called Rani are the key to ending Scar's reign of terror. Not by killing him, but by healing him.", he replied.

"Kiara, you are the next Queen. Kopa and Baliyo are not dead but can never rule again. As for your place on the lion guard, it is time for a change. A new leader and a new role entirely. Yet no matter what, you must all endure.", he finished, leaving me with questions. But I knew I could only ask one.

"Grandfather, where are they?", I asked with determination.

"The Tree of Life. They're going to rally an army, do what your brother couldn't. Create peace. You must hurry to get there, Lion Guard. One last mission together. For the Pride Lands.", Mufasa ended with a smile before fading away into the soft white clouds.

I looked to my team with a smile and said, "Til the Pride Lands end!"

"Lion Guard defend!", they finished our famous catchphrase as we ran towards the Tree of Life, me and Fuli leading the way.

"This is all your fault you ignorant fool!", declared Baliyo with an anger which could bring him to the tipping point.

All the while Kopa could only sit and wonder how he survived. If he survived.

"Where are we?", demanded Baliyo with once again a raised voice.

"You are safe, in a place in which Scar cannot get to you.", Askari called out, startling both the King and prince.

"Who are you?", asked Kopa, speaking for the first time in hours.

"I am Askari and I can help you. But first you must learn something.", Askari informed them.

"And what's that?", snaps Kopa coldly, his patience growing thin.
