Amani's P.O.V

We've been walking for a day now, and that cub is really starting to annoy me. I don't trust him. Azzan is really suspicious. The way he talks about finding us was the best thing that could've happened for him. It's like, I'm 'sure' it is kid.

But Kion doesn't seem to mind. Actually, I don't know. He's been quiet. To be fair, I haven't really spoken much either. And this kid never seems to sleep. He's up all night thanking us for everything, how we've saved his life and all sorts of stuff.

This morning, he said that Kion was 'a brother'. What does he mean by that? I was really starting to be creeped out by this kid.

I brought it up and got quite the response...

"So, what did you mean when you said Kion was 'a brother' to you earlier?", I asked him, whilst he hopped off Kion's back.

He started laughing hysterically and then began, "Scar will be pleased that I have found the pair of you. Well, he probably doesn't care as much about you Rani as he does about me finding his son."

Kion looked even more shocked than I did as Azzan began explaining. "You see Kion, at birth you disgusted dad (Scar) so much that mom (Zira) pretended that you were a lioness called Grace's cub and had her banished. She carried you with tears in her eyes through a storm in the Outlands before tripping and dropping you into a ravine and then ran away, never to be seen again. How you survived no one knows but you did and now you're Scar's biggest rival apart from Rani over there. But like you I was hated. Mom told us all that we would be Kovu's second in command after he takes over for Scar if we find either of you. And with you both here and at my disposal, I can gain the respect I deserve."

"How are you going to beat us all alone?", Kion asked, not liking the evil grin that Azzan gave in response.

"Because, I am the danger."

He stood next to a stream of water and splashed us with it, and Kion quickly passed out. As for me, I only took a little in but felt slow and weak. I couldn't move as he splashed more onto me as I fell to the ground. I felt faint, with the last thing I heard being rain beginning to pour down on me. My ability to see had became fuzzy after the first splash, and before I knew it, I was unconscious.

Kion's P.O.V

I awoke within a cave, with no way of escape. With a small hole which gave us little light and the original entrance blocked by boulders, we were trapped. Next to me sat Rani, who was still knocked out and was shivering. I sat beside her, letting my fur meet hers. She stopped shivering and even began to wake up.

"Kion, where are we?", she asked me whilst trying to open her eyes. She bumped he muzzle onto mine and it was awkward, but not unwelcome.

"We're in some cave after getting kidnapped by Azzan.", I replied, ashamed. "I can't believe I let him trick us like that."

"Hey, don't blame yourself. I agreed to help him too. Besides, he is your brother. You were trying to help your family.", she replied, trying to cheer me up.

"Thanks Rani.", I thanked her before having a crazy idea. "Now what do you say about busting out of wherever we are"

"What do you mean?", she asked me confused, but I just roared at the boulders and they flew to the ground, letting us escape. Our first view was of Azzan and some lioness in either a heated game of pinning each other down or something else entirely.

He looked at us alarmed and yelled, "What the fu..."

But before he could finish whatever he was saying or doing, we had run out of there, only to find ourselves at the edge of a cliff. The leopards we'd saved him from came up from behind us and pounced at us. One landed on my paw, causing sharp pain to come from there as I lost my balace and we both fell to the bottom.

"Rani, if this is it, I just have to tell you something.", I began, urging her to ask what it was.

"What is it?", she asked me like I hoped she would.

"Rani, I really like you. You're beautiful, smart, funny and my best friend. Sorry it took me so long to say it.", I confessed, feeling guilty that we couldn't be something.

"Kion, I really like you too. You're kind, cute, funny and are my best friend too. I love you."

"I love you too Rani."

I just looked into her eyes for potentially the last time, when something inside me told me to use the roar, but it wasn't that familiar. It was my voice. And I listened.

"Kion, reach out with your paw.", Rani told me and I did. She touched my paw and I felt all sadness and pain leave me. Emotionally anyway, and I could focus. So with all the strength, my heart, my soul and love for Rani, I roared, creating a tornado which carried us down safely to the bottom and took us away from the cliff.

Once we reached the bottom, we just lay upon the grass, catching our breath. After minutes of silence and relief, we sat up at the same time staring into each other's eyes. Her warm chocolate eyes were enchanting, her smile refreshing and her personality oozed out in that moment of realisation. I had confessed to Rani, and all I had to do was finish off what I started plummeting to my near death in the sky only a few minutes ago. No pressure.

Author's Note

Congratulations. You've completed another chapter. Hope you've enjoyed this one as well. Remember that this is a short story used to try and cure my writers block so if there are mistakes or it isn't as detailed as you want, I'm sorry but if it is popular maybe I'll go back and do a rewrite but give it lots more context and give more characters a chance to tell their side. Anyways, thanks for the support and for the patience with me. That is why I've been firing out chapters all day for you guys. Keep reading, keep writing and enjoy your Summer Holidays.

Peace,
