The tension between Sharon, Sid, and Suhana reached a breaking point one fateful afternoon during a college swimming competition. Sharon, sensing the growing distance between Sid and Suhana, decided to confront Suhana directly, hoping to shift the dynamics in her favor.
As the swimmers prepared for their respective heats, Sharon approached Suhana with a forced smile. "Suhana, can we talk for a moment?" she asked sweetly, her voice tinged with an underlying tension.
Suhana, caught off guard by Sharon's sudden approach, nodded hesitantly. They moved to a quieter corner of the pool area, away from the bustling crowd.
"What's on your mind, Sharon?" Suhana inquired, trying to keep her tone neutral.
Sharon took a deep breath, her eyes welling up with tears. "I... I don't know how to say this, but I feel like you've been trying to come between Sid and me. He's always with you, always talking about you."
Suhana frowned, her brows knitting together in confusion. "Sharon, Sid bhai and I are siblings. We've always been close. I would never try to come between you two."
Sharon wiped away a tear that trickled down her cheek, her voice quavering. "But... but I overheard you talking to Veer about me. You said I was too clingy, that I was getting between you and Sid."
Suhana's eyes widened in disbelief. "Sharon, that's not what I meant at all. I was just worried about Sid Bhai. He's my brother, and I care about him deeply."
Sharon shook her head adamantly, her expression hardening. "No, Suhana. You want to see me fail. You even said once that you wished I would just disappear!"
Suhana recoiled, stunned by Sharon's accusation. "Sharon, I never said that! You're twisting my words."
Their argument escalated, voices rising as emotions ran high. Unbeknownst to them, the pool area had emptied out, leaving them alone in their heated exchange. In the midst of their confrontation, Sharon's emotions reached a breaking point. She turned away abruptly, pretending to wipe tears from her eyes.
"Suhana," Sharon choked out, her voice trembling with faux vulnerability, "you're so mean to me. You even once said... you wished I would drown in this pool!"
Suhana gasped in horror, realizing the gravity of the situation. "Sharon, I never said that! You're making things up."
But Sharon, consumed by her own insecurities and desire to win Sid's undivided attention, was beyond reason. In a moment of reckless desperation, she shoved Suhana with unexpected force, catching her off guard. Suhana stumbled backwards, losing her balance on the edge of the pool.
"Suhana, watch out!" Sid's voice rang out, but it was too late. Suhana's foot slipped on the wet tiles, and she plunged into the deep end of the pool with a splash.
Time seemed to slow down as Suhana struggled underwater, her limbs flailing in panic. The world around her dissolved into a blur of bubbles and refracted sunlight. She fought against the pressure building in her chest, the need for air burning in her lungs.
Suddenly, strong arms wrapped around her, pulling her towards the surface. It was Sid, his expression a mix of fear and relief as he hoisted Suhana out of the water. She coughed and gasped for air, clinging to him as he helped her to the edge of the pool.
"Suhana, are you okay?" Sid asked urgently, his hands trembling as he checked her for any signs of injury.
Suhana nodded weakly, still in shock from the sudden turn of events. "I... I'm okay. Thank you, Bhai."
As Sid comforted Suhana, Sharon stood by the poolside, her facade crumbling as guilt and remorse washed over her. The gravity of what she had done sank in, and she realized the depths to which her jealousy and manipulation had led.
