Anni was busy cleaning the crown prince's chamber and hadn't noticed when the prince entered the room. He stood silently in a corner, observing Anni absorbed in her work, her thoughts drifting as she listened to the maids' morning conversation.

"Did you hear? Quin Han saw a maid from Languaon Pavilion standing in the palace garden, improperly dressed with wet clothes, shivering in the cold. She might already be dead," one maid gasped in sorrow.

Upon hearing this conversation, Anni grew concerned about Della. Hours passed, and Anni still hadn't noticed the prince's presence, which began to irritate Ming Xiaosheng, the crown prince. He decided to draw Anni's attention towards himself.

"Ahem," he cleared his throat softly, prompting Anni to startle and scan the room. Her eyes settled on Xiaosheng standing calmly with his arms folded across his chest.

"My lord, I apologize for not noticing your arrival," Anni said, lowering her head. Seeing Anni's frightened expression, Xiaosheng felt a pang of guilt.

"There's no need for apologies," he reassured her, approaching gently. "What is your name?" When Xiaosheng asked this unexpectedly, Anni was taken aback. She couldn't reveal her true identity, knowing it would only complicate matters.

"I do not have an official name, Majesty," Anni replied cautiously. She was in a difficult situation, unable to disclose her real name but trying to respond appropriately.

"How can you not have one? Everyone has a name," Xiaosheng pressed, intrigued.

Anni paused briefly, choosing her words carefully. "In my circumstances, names are not freely given. I have yet to earn one that I can proudly carry," she explained, hoping her vague answer would suffice.

Xiaosheng considered her response thoughtfully. "I see," he nodded, seeming to understand the delicacy of her situation. "Very well, from now on, you shall be known as  xue naio{snow bird}  within the palace."

Anni bowed gratefully. "Thank you, Your Majesty."

Xiaosheng smiled warmly. "Carry on with your duties, xue naio And remember, your presence here is valued."

Anni nodded, relieved that she had managed to navigate the prince's inquiry without revealing her secret. As she resumed cleaning, she reflected on the prince's unexpected kindness and understanding.
She smiled at the mirror to remember her new name “xue naio” ……” its my new identity from now  on”.
