Mr. Lee's recovery has progressed well over the past few days, and he is ready to be discharged. The atmosphere is filled with relief and anticipation.
"Mr. Lee, your tests have come back great, and Dr. Kim has given all-clear for your discharge today" Nurse Hye In said.
"Thank you, Nurse Hye In. I can't wait to go home." Mr. Lee said, gratefully.
"We'll start the paperwork, and Nurse Tae Young will go over your discharge instructions with you."
"Good morning, Mr. Lee. Today's the big day! How are you feeling?" I announced, with enthusiast.
"Much better, thanks to all of you. I'm ready to go home." Mr. Lee thanked.
"Here are your discharge instructions. It includes information on your medication, follow-up appointments, and some lifestyle recommendations. Do you have any questions"
"No, this seems clear. Thank you, Tae Young." Mr. Lee thanked.
Jeon looking at me and smiled, "We're really grateful for everything you've done. You've been amazing."
Here I go again, blushing, "I'm just glad to see Mr. Lee doing so well. If you have any questions after you leave, don't hesitate to call." I then picked from my pocket my calling card and gave it to him.
[Tae Young, +82-7-4389-3264]
"Mr. Lee, it's great to see you up and about. You've made excellent progress. Just remember to follow the instruction and take it easy for a while." Dr. Kim said.
Me and Sun Hee assisted Mr. Lee into a wheelchair and guide him and Jeon to the discharge area. As we reached the entrance, Jeon turned to me.
"Tae Young, I don't know how to thank you properly. Ou've been more than just a nurse to us. You've been... a friend." He said with sincerity.
"It was my pleasure, Jeon. I'm glad I could be here for you both. Take good care of your father." I said with a big smile to him and waved goodbye.
[Jeon and Mr. Lee head home, filled with hope and gratitude. Tae Young watches them go, feeling a sense of fulfillment. As the day winds down, Tae Young finishes his shift and prepares to head home.]
"Sigh, home, finally." I was really tired from my shift, being awake for hours from taking care of Mr. Lee to taking care of Jeon as well. Though it was worth it. They were really nice people. Especially... Jeon...
"Wait, what is this I'm feeling?? My heart is racing."
"I-is it, love?! Do I have feelings for him!? It was just a few days and nights?? Am I overthinking!?"
-doorbell rings-
"OH, SHIT. IS THAT HIM? HOW DOES HE KNOW MY ADDRESS?" When I opened the door expecting it was him, but it was-
"Thought you could use some company and a good meal. Mind if I join you? Sun Hee, grinned.
I replied, "Oh, it's you. I thought it was someone else."
"Someone else? GASP, YOU THOUGHT I WAS JEON. HOLY SHIT, SO YOU DO HAVE FEELINGS FOR HIM. HAHAHAH." Sun Hee burst out laughing her guts out.
"HOW DO YOU KNOW I HAD FEELINGS FOR JEON!? I was trying to keep it subtle..." I bolted and got disappointed at myself.
"Hey, Tae. We've been best friends for more than like, sixteen consecutive years. Don't you know how long CONSECUTIVE is? ONE RIGHT AFTER THE MOTHERFUCKING OTHER. Uhuh, that's right. Do you think I didn't notice. I always notice you together, and I when I try to talk to you, you keep zoning out STARING AT HIS ASS, HIS ASS, TAE YOUNG."
"...Okay, you caught me there. But that is not I crime." I said in defense.
"Let me just change into some comfortable clothes."
"I thought so, Tae" Sun Hee sassed.
"Okay, Sun Hee. Let's eat those takeouts to bought." I spoke.
Sun Hee raises her glass, "To new beginnings and good friends. Cheers!"
"Cheers! And to always being there for each other." I added.
[As they eat and talk, Tae Young feels a warmth and comfort in knowing he has such good friends. He thinks about Jeon and Mr. Lee, hoping their new beginning is filled with happiness and health.]
[To be continued.]
