Faye's POV

I decided to take a walk around the mansion. It wasn't like anyone in the Wang family cared about me. They barely noticed my existence. The garden here was beautiful, meticulously maintained. I knew Yoko took care of it, and her touch made it even more enchanting.

Ize had asked if I wanted to attend Enghfa's concert, but I declined. Concerts weren't my thing, and besides, I had a lot on my plate. Ize pleaded, but my mind was made up. Work came first.

As I strolled through the garden, the gentle music playing in my ears blended with the sound of the cool breeze rustling through the leaves. It was so peaceful here, a sanctuary away from the chaos of my life.

Charlotte's new songs played softly in my headphones. Her voice was angelic, so pure and soothing. I closed my eyes for a moment, letting the freshness of the night wash over me. It was a rare moment of tranquility.

But then, I heard footsteps approaching. I opened my eyes and saw Freen walking towards me, her face serious.

"What happened?" I asked as she reached my side.

"I got some interesting news about Jan," Freen said, her expression grim.

My interest piqued, I turned to face her fully. "What is it?"

"Have you heard about DragonTrexx, a smuggling gang?" Freen asked, her eyes locking onto mine.

I nodded. DragonTrexx was notorious, even I had heard of them.

"Jan belongs to that gang," Freen continued. "But that's not all. He has blood relations and connections with one of the royal families of China. It's more like an illegal relationship."

The revelation hit me like a ton of bricks. I was deep in thought, trying to process this new information. It explained a lot about why Jan was so bold, so untouchable. His connections made him dangerous.

As Freen spoke, she looked around, her eyes scanning the shadows. She must have heard something, but she shrugged it off and turned her attention back to me.

"We need to be careful," she added. "This makes things more complicated."

I nodded, my mind racing. Jan's involvement with a powerful smuggling gang and his ties to the royal family changed everything. We had to tread carefully. The stakes were higher than I had ever imagined.

I took a deep breath, feeling the weight of this new information settle on my shoulders. The peaceful night suddenly felt a lot more ominous.

Author's POV

"What are you thinking?" Freen asked Faye, who looked around and touched her eyebrow, lost in deep thought. Freen watched her intently.

Faye immediately took out her phone, opened some articles, and showed them to Freen.

"Look at these articles. Two days ago, a schoolgirl was raped and murdered, and the very next day, Becky's dating rumor surfaced," Faye said.

"What are you trying to say? That they tried to cover the murder news by fabricating another story just because a schoolgirl was raped—" Freen stopped mid-sentence, her eyes widening with realization.

"Do you think it's that easy to fabricate a rumor about such a powerful family? But they did it anyway... If someone powerful isn't involved, why are they trying so hard to cover up this news? Freen, I need all the information about this murder case. See if Jan is involved and if Becky's rumor is related to this. I need all this information," Faye instructed but paused as she heard some noises, prompting her to ask Freen to leave. Freen nodded and left.
