Side Story 2: Learning the History and Training

Soren was now 10 years old. Ever since his first ride on his fathers dragon, Nightwing,  Soren has devoted his life to becoming a Dragon Rider. For this, most days of his life Soren has been training with his parents or studying in the library with having a day off now and then to spend time with his family and walk among the people of his land. His father has been training him in swordplay, teaching him how to fight on the battlefield while not riding a dragon. Nathan was the most skilled sword fighter in the Kingdom. He was known as the Sword Saint. While Nathan was born with only the fire elemental attribute for magic, he had a great attribute for physical enhancement magic. He could channel his magic power to give himself superhuman strength, speed, agility and senses. Turns out than Soren was also born with the power to use physical magic, which Nathan was very sure he would be. The key with physical magic was not to channel too much power into one part of your body, otherwise that part of your body would collapse from the pressure and break. Such as your arm exploding because you put too much power into your arm. Soren also learned that you can use physical magic to heal minor wounds such as cuts and bruises, however it cannot heal sever injuries like broken limbs or being run through with a sword. Nathan was surprised when he saw his sons aptitude for physical magic. He told Soren that there could be a possibility that he would surpass him one day and that he would be proud of he did.

For his training in magic, Soren learned from his mother. Cynthia was a very famous mage called the Sorceress of Silver Winds. In her early childhood, his mother showed great aptitude for magic. She was born with 3 elemental attributes Wind, Water, Earth and healing magic. In this world, magic can be used by anyone whether you are born noble or commoner. However, there are some who have a stronger attribute for it then others, which allows them to use more than one element and stronger spells. Magic is mostly used for combat by using the 5 Elements: Fire, Water, Wind, Earth and Thunder. Everyone who can use magic are born with at least 1 element and sub-form magic. Normally, a person is born with only one Elemental attribute for magic, but there are some rare cases where someone is born with 2. It is very rare for someone to be born with more than 2 attributes, like Cynthia. Being born with 4 attributes is even more uncommon. The only person to ever use all 5 elements was the first Dragon Rider. His ancestor, Albion. There are sub-forms of magic also exist such as physical, healing and stealth.  Potions are a form of magic that are made from monster parts and plants that can be used for a variety of tasks from healing to spying. Although not as commonly used, they were none the less important. There are forms of magic called sub-elements, that can only be used by those to have the right 2 or 3 combinations of attributes of magic to be used. Ice magic can only be used by those with the Wind and Water attributes, Wood magic can only be used by Earth and Water and Storm magic needs Water, Wind and Thunder to be used. His father was born with the fire element and physical magic. His sister Luna was born with Wind, Water and healing magic. Aria was born with Earth, Thunder and Physical Magic. Even Amy was born with attributes for Thunder and Stealth magic. A little while after beginning his training in magic, Soren discovered that he had 4 Elemental Magic attributes of Fire, Earth, Wind and Water as well as his fathers capacity for physical magic, meaning he could use Ice and Wood magic.

When two people with the same magical attributes have a child, that child will also be born with those same attributes, only stronger. If two people with different attributes for magic have a child, then the child may be born with those same attributes or on rare occasions, be born with completely different ones. Not only was Soren born with 4 forms of elemental magic, which was rare enough, because he had the right 2 attribute combinations for sub-elements. His family was astounded that Soren was born with such magical power, because of this, his parents made him promise not to reveal his magic power to anyone unless it was an emergency, for it may draw much unwanted attention to himself. Only his family, Amy and Carla were to know of this.
