It was after sunrise as Soren ate his breakfast in his room. When the sun gleamed through his window in the morning, the first thing Soren did was have a shower in his bathroom. Each one of the dorm rooms had their own private bathroom. After which, Soren dressed and went downstairs to have breakfast. He wondered if he should've waited for Simon to eat with him, but Soren chose to have his first breakfast by himself, so he gathered the food he wanted and returned to his room. When he finished eating, it was about time for him to head to the Academy to attend the the opening ceremony for new students.
Soren retrieved his school uniform from the bag he got from the lady at the Dragonmount. He stood in front of the mirror as he changed. When he was finished, Soren looked at himself in the mirror. He wore white pants, black shoes, brown leather belt, a silk white long sleeved button shirt and a black jacket. The jacket had a folded down collar, the jacket was hooked together with small golden ropes on the right side that hooked onto buttons on the left side. The Academy's symbol was on the left side on the jacket and the jacket had golden ends on the sleeves, collar and chest. The jackets had three different colors that indicated the students social status. Black was for those students of the highest nobility. Blue was worn by students of lesser noble standing and White was worn by commoners.
Soren met Simon outside the dorms and decided to walk to the Academy together. As they walked together, they both took notice of all the other students walking down the pathway. Human, Elves, Dwarves and Beastmen all walking together with different color jackets. Of course there were more Blue and White jackets than Black. "So, how did you sleep last night, Simon?", asked Soren.
Simon was dressed in the same uniform as Soren was, but his jacket was white, showing that he was a commoner. "It was certainly different. The room was bigger than my one back home and the bed was certainly bigger and more comfortable. I've also never had my own bathroom before. My family has to share one small bathroom back home", Simon responded.
"Sounds like it was a step up from what you're used to, huh?"
"That's an understatement! I've never had such a great night sleep in my life and the food is certainly better. Don't get me wrong. My mother is a great cook and I love my life back home, but I can't deny how great the rooms and food are here".
"Well, you are training to be a Dragon Rider. The greatest warriors in the world. Swore to protect the people. It's only fair that they make you comfortable while your training, right?"
"This coming from a guy whose family has just one hair shy of being considered royalty".
"Haha, got me there. Wow, Simon look".
The boys stopped walking and gazed up at the massive castle in front of them. It looked like the same kinds of castles Soren saw in fantasy shows in his previous life. The castle was 8 stories tall. It had massive towers, balconies, glass windows and everything a castle in a fantasy world would have. Behind the castle was the Dragonmount. The mountain was several times bigger than the building, but that still didn't stop Simon and Soren from admiring the castle rustic beauty. "Wow. I saw this building when I flew in on my dragon and it looked beautiful for sure, but here on the ground and standing right in front of it. I can't believe that I'll be living here for the next few years. It's grand, isn't it Soren?"
"You can say that again."
"And to think that it was your ancestor, Albion, who built this castle", said Simon.
Soren just stared at the castle. Imagining his ancestor building such an amazing place for the Dragon Riders of the future to train. Soren wrapped his arm around Simons shoulder. "Simon, my friend. I'm very honored to be sharing this experience with you."
