POV Ava
Me and a few others are eating breakfast when Ms. Callie comes in and tells us that visitors are coming by again today for a potential adoption.Hmmm I wonder if they want to meet all the kids or if they just want to meet the toddlers and babies again.
I am counted as a baby for almost everything but for things like adoption and such I am labeled special. You have to know that I stopped growing or changing in any way since I was 3 months old because of a special disease. In my file it also said that my parents didn't want me anymore because I would be too exhausting for them in the long run. And as if that wasn't enough, I also have a congenital heart defect. Because of this heart defect, I have a huge scar from my chest straight down to my stomach. The others say it's ugly and that no family would adopt me anyway with my problems. Sometimes I just wish I had a normal life without looking and sometimes acting like a baby and without my congenital heart defect. Because if it wasn't for all that, I might have found a family by now or my parents wouldn't have given me away in the first place. All these thoughts go through my head so often but I can't change anything about my situation and I realize that again and again.
I'm pulled out of my thoughts when Leo asks who all is eligible for the family. " Good question Leo the couple wants to see everyone, so the older ones will also stay there today and not go out with friends understood. " "yes... " is all we give in reply.

It is now 2 p.m. and the couple has just arrived and Mrs. Callie explains everything to them. This includes things like how the meetings will work, which child is which, how old we are and whether we have any medical conditions. I'm in my room and the other girls, Lola and Sophie, are talking about make-up and boys and complaining that they can't go out because we're supposed to meet the couple. To be honest I'm a bit unsure because on the one hand I want to have a real family but I've only ever been rejected because of my medical conditions.
POV Scarlett
Olivia and I are currently talking to the home manager, Mrs. Callie, who explains to us that we go from the rooms with the youngest to the oldest and explains to us that there is a special child with the older children and that we should give her a sign when we have found a suitable child for us. "Is that OK for both of you?" asks Mrs. Callie and I answer with a "yes" for us. Liv asks "Ms. Callie, can you explain to us what you mean by special with this one child before we start meeting the children?" "Ms. Russo, the special child, Ava, she is already 16 but is still such a loving and wonderful child even though she is special. Please keep that in mind. Ava has an illness that has caused her to stop growing or changing in any way since she was about a 3-month-old baby. That means she is actually 16 but looks like a baby and with her age regression she sometimes behaves according to her body. In addition, she has a congenital heart defect, which also puts many families off. Unfortunately, we can only do the bare minimum for her here, so I hope she will still find her family. I hope that hasn't put her off meeting them." "No, not at all, in fact, you've had the opposite effect on us. We just want to get to know you better now, so please don't worry about that with us. Because if anything, we'd rather help her, even if she's not the child for us, and if she is, then we'll be able to support her even more." is what I say.
"Thank you, Mrs. Russo." Liv and I will let you know. "Mrs. Callie, please call her Scarlett and Olivia, we can save ourselves the formalities, it will be easier for the children. OK." She nods her head and opens the door to the babies. We play with them for a bit and then move on to the toddlers. They're all really cute, but none of them made me or Liv feel like 'I would do anything for you' or something like that. So we move on with Mrs. Callie to the next children and the next and now we're standing in front of the last room. " Before we go in, Scarlett and Olivia, this is Ava and two others' room, yes. One thing about Ava, you should take it easy, she's very shy, ok?" " Ok and thanks for the info. " As we come in, I notice two girls on their cell phones but I don't see Ava. And as I look around more closely, I notice that she is hiding in the corner of the room and looks a bit scared and sad. In that moment, I just wanted to go over to her and take her in my arms and comfort her. In my head and in my heart, I know that this is the child that me and my beloved wife have been looking for for two years and now we have finally found her. I look over at Liv as she squeezes my hand tightly and pulls me out of my thoughts. Liv's expression tells me everything because she thinks exactly the same as me, this is going to be our daughter. Me and Liv go over to her and talk to her for a bit and 'WOW' she is just perfect. I look briefly at Liv and she nods her head. So I give Mrs. Callie a sign to tell her that we want to adopt Ava. When she notices, she seems to be about to cry and gives me an affirmative nod to signal to me that she will get the adoption papers ready and we will tell Ava that we want to adopt her and ask her if she wants to do it too.
