POV: Olivia
The sun had barely risen when I felt the familiar weight of responsibility settling on my shoulders. Today marked a significant milestone; it was my first day back at work since we met Ava . As the owner of Russo Medical, the leading force in medical advancement, I had always dedicated myself to my career. However, now, with Ava in my life, my priorities had shifted.
She was nestled peacefully in her newborn car seat, her tiny body swathed in a soft blanket that matched the pastel colors of our baby room. With each gentle rise and fall of her chest, I felt an overwhelming sense of love and protectiveness envelop me. I reached out and brushed my fingers against the silky hair on her head. "You're going to be just fine today, little one," I whispered, hoping she could somehow understand the reassurance behind my words.
As I maneuvered through the morning traffic to the hospital, parked, and unbuckled Ava, I felt the thrill of excitement and apprehension bubble within me. I pulled her closer to my chest, feeling the warmth of her body against mine, before strapping her securely into the ergonomic baby carrier. The feeling of being a working mom was new and intimidating, but I was determined to make it work.
Once inside Russo Medical, I was greeted by the familiar hustle and bustle of the hospital environment. Nurses rushed by, doctors discussed cases in hushed tones, and the smell of antiseptic lingered in the air. I made my way to my office, but not without stopping to greet my staff. They beamed at the sight of Ava, and I felt a swell of pride knowing that I was not only Olivia Russo, the dedicated doctor and owner of Russo Medical but also Olivia, the loving mother.
Time sped by, and as lunchtime approached, I decided to take a short break and head to Scarlett's skyscraper. I missed seeing her during the day, and I knew that she would love to encircle Ava in her warmth, even if just for a little while.
POV: Scarlett
As noon approached, the buzz in my office echoed around me. I looked out over the city from my penthouse office in Russo Corporation's skyscraper and felt the weight of my responsibilities. As CEO, I was constantly involved in meetings, negotiations, and strategic planning—my presence was crucial. But my thoughts were frequently interrupted by images of my beautiful daughter and my extraordinary partner, Olivia.
Today would be a little different, though. I glanced at the clock, anticipation building as I wondered how things were going at the hospital. Just when I thought I couldn't hold back any longer, Olivia walked through my office door, cradling Ava close to her as she entered.
"Hey, my love," I smiled, my heart melting at the sight of them together. Ava's eyes sparkled with curiosity as they locked onto mine. "There's my little Principessa!"
Olivia settled on the couch, gently positioning Ava to breastfeed. "She was fussy earlier," Olivia explained, expertly lifting her shirt to expose the nursing bra underneath. My heart swelled with love as I watched her latch onto Olivia's nipple, the little sounds of sucking filling the air.
"Olivia, you're amazing," I breathed, watching as Ava nuzzled against her, eyes fluttering in contentment as she nursed. "I know this is your first day back, but she just looks so at home with you."
POV: Ava
The warm, familiar scent enveloped me as I latched onto Mommy's nipple. I felt safe and loved as the milk flowed into my mouth, soothing my hunger. I nestled against her, wanting to feel every heartbeat, every gentle breath, and the calmness that radiated from her.
As I suckled, I heard the soft voices of Mommy and another person—someone who made me feel safe and warm. It felt good to be with them, and I just wanted to stay nestled in their embrace forever.
POV: Olivia
As Ava finished nursing, I cradled her close, our bond deepening with every passing moment. I glanced at the clock and sighed. "We should get going; I have a few more meetings to attend, and I still need to check on my patients."
Scarlett nodded, although reluctance crossed her face. "I wish we could stay and spend more time together. I miss having both of you around during the day."
As I placed Ava back into her carrier, I felt a sense of comfort knowing that no matter how busy our lives became, we would always find a way to support each other.
"You'll see her again tonight, I promise," I reassured Scarlett, leaning in for a quick kiss before stepping out of the office.
Moments later, I was back at my hospital, minds focused on my work while knowing that my heart was right there with Scarlett and Ava. The journey of juggling motherhood and a professional career would be challenging, but I was determined to make every moment count – for all of us.
