POV Scarlett
I'm not a doctor and I don't have any medical experience, but I also know that it's not good when the doctor frowns and gives us a serious look. We knew that our principessa wasn't healthy when we adopted her, but it seems to be worse than expected when I look at Liv's expression and it worries me even more. Dr. Hunter and a nurse are currently hooking her up to the EKG. Her pulse is very weak, even I can see that, but it has always been weak when she was sleeping. Liv said that it has to do with her heart defect and that we have to be careful that her heart isn't strained too much or that it doesn't get out of rhythm. She has a monitor at home especially for Ava so that we can always keep an eye on her vital signs.

After all the tests were done, we had to wait a little while so that Dr. Hunter could look at all the results carefully before she spoke to us. About half an hour later, she called us in to discuss the results of the tests.
"So, Mrs. Russo and Liv Ava's heart has become even weaker and I'm concerned. Her heart is working even harder than it did at her last test and I would therefore like to try a new treatment method," says Dr. Hunter
"Um, could you explain to us exactly what you want to change? I'm not a doctor, but my wife is and I think you should discuss it with her because I have no idea what you're going to talk about and my wife will explain it to me later if that's OK." I ask
"If you want to do it that way. I don't mind, and you'll have to think about whether you want to do my suggested treatment plan. Your wife can explain everything to you afterwards so that you understand it."
Liv nods and starts talking to Dr. Hunter. I really don't know what I would do without her. She's the doctor in our house.
Ava is restless, it's almost time for lunch. I'd better give her a bottle now before she starts crying. Liv and I will get something from our favorite Italian restaurant later. Then we'll turn the rest of the day into a movie day. The doctor's appointment is really getting on all of our nerves.
POV Olivia
Scar has now gone out with Ava and to be honest I'm glad about that because I don't know how she would have reacted to the news.
"Ok, so Liv Ava's heart is badly affected, more severely than I expected. She is also underweight, she now weighs practically as much as a newborn baby would weigh, and that's just about right. The treatment plan for her is to make her as healthy as possible in her condition. That means
1. put less strain on her heart
2. normal weight
3. take her medication regularly
those are the most important points for now.
When you make the new treatment plan, she will also be given new medication and she should be given external oxygen at night or generally when she is sleeping or exerting herself in any way through a nasal cannula. To be more precise, she has definitely developed heart failure, which makes everything even more difficult for her, which is why she should actually be given oxygen permanently through her nasal cannula from now on. That's not particularly good news, but I would like to examine her regularly every month. If she gets sick, you have to take her straight to the hospital so that she can be monitored there. If the cold puts too much pressure on her heart, it is safer if she is already in the hospital in case of an emergency. Liv, I know it's not that easy but you know what can happen in the worst case scenario. If she has a cold and it's too much for her heart, it could stop. She doesn't have a cold now, but she will probably catch one at some point. I'm saying all this because she has a weak immune system and iron deficiency. So it's best to make sure she is protected from germs. Do you have any more questions?"
I nod my head and ask, "Yes, I have been producing breast milk for a while and I thought I could breastfeed her and wanted to ask if her body would be able to do that."
"You want to breastfeed her. That would be fantastic for her, then she could also get the vitamins she needs to get her immune system back in order. Then I don't have to prescribe you any vitamins that Ava would probably hate." laughs Dr. Hunter and I laugh too. She would probably hate them so much that she would throw them across the kitchen.
I trust Dr. Hunter, she is one of the best in the fields of pediatrics and cardio. We will probably adopt her treatment plan but I should first let Scar in on everything and explain everything to her. Then we can decide together what we are going to do.
"Ok, thanks Dr. Hunter, we will contact you as soon as we have decided." I say
"It's fine Liv. That's what friends are for. So forget the formality and just call me Emilia like you usually do."
I chuckle and nod my head and say goodbye. I go to Scar and see her playing with our baby girl.
"Hey babe, come on, give me my little angel and then we'll head home. I'll tell you everything later when she's asleep, yes." I say and give them a kiss, Ava on the front of her head and Scar on the lips.
"Ok. I thought we'd get something from the Italian restaurant and then spend the rest of the day at home watching films and relaxing." I nod and we head home.

I tell Scar everything so that she understands and that Ava would probably feel better with the new treatment plan. I also say that I'll probably start breastfeeding her tomorrow. And she smiles and is just happy, we'll think about the treatment plan but let's go to sleep first. Tomorrow is another day.
"Good night babe," says Scar and I say good night too.
