A month has passed since the class started ignoring Bakugou. He has fully given up all hope of any interaction with them.
"Alright class, settle down. As you may have heard, the gym and training center is open again. Today we will be doing one on one combat training, so go get your gear on." Aizawa said, and everyone took their cases and went to the change rooms.
The gym and training center had been under repairs from a villain attack a few months back, but it's finally open for the classes to use again. That means partner sparring is back - and the class can't ignore him if they have to fight one on one, right?
"The first pair is Midoriya and Iida. Get in the square and begin."
While they were sparring, Bakugou took this time to change his hearing aid batteries. He needed to hear his opponent - especially if he was up against Hagakure as she could be anywhere.
There's a special attachment on his hero costume that connects to his ears. It keeps his hearing aids from falling out while he's fighting. He asked if Hatsume could make something like it, and of course she could.
After a few fights, it's finally Bakugou's turn. He's up against Todoroki. They haven't gone against each other since the Sport's Festival, and that did not end well - but if they're all ignoring him, Todoroki probably would forfeit anyway.
Little does Bakugou know that the class had discussed this before, and decided that whoever goes against him will try and beat him no matter the cost.
Todoroki was very skeptical about this. They could both get severely injured. Even with Recovery Girl, he still doesn't want to be blown to smithereens.
Usually Bakugou would scream at his opponent before a match, just to make them uneasy. This time, he said nothing. He doesn't even look ready for a fight, and this didn't go unnoticed by the class.
"Alright, you two may begin."
With those words, Todoroki took the initiative and froze the ground, encasing Bakuogu's feet in ice. He was not ready for that, but didn't hesitate to explode the ice and fight back.
Bakugou didn't peg Todoroki as a vicious person - other than toward his father, which is understandable - however, Todoroki was not letting up. Just like in the Sport's Festival, it's a heated battle, literally. Todoroki is actually using his flames against him this time, which is a little terrifying.
The fight has gone on for about 3 minutes, neither side wavering. It's a pretty fair pairing, so it's either boy's game. Bakugou didn't expect any of this from Todoroki.
He also didn't expect the ginormous icicle that sprung up from the ground.
The icicle hit him on the side of the head, causing a massive gash and lots of blood. He just assumed that the ringing in his ear was from the more than likely concussion, and not from his hearing aid being torn out of his ear.
He raised his hand to the side of his head to try and stop the spinning and assess how badly he's bleeding, only to find his hearing aid gone.
He was so focused on not falling over that he didn't realize that the world was 50% quieter.
After making sure he still had the other one, he started frantically looking around for his missing hearing aid in the mess of melting ice and burnt rubble. Todoroki still hadn't stopped attacking, and it was getting on Bakugou's nerves. He was trying to block the attacks the best he could, but he just couldn't get away. Even with Aizawa yelling to end the fight, Todoroki wouldn't stop. It took erasing his quirk and wrapping him in his scarf for Todoroki to give up.
Bakugou's head wound was making him dizzier by the second, which made his stomach churn sickeningly, but he needed to find his hearing aid.
The class just watched as the person they assumed to be a monster broke down. They had never seen him so distraught, and they didn't know what to do. After being so cold toward him, what could they do? Even if they apologized, there's no way he would forgive them.
"Bakugou......Bakugou, calm down." Aizawa had run over to make sure his student was alright, even when he could clearly see that he wasn't.
"Bakugou, what's wrong? What are you looking for?" Bakugou wouldn't look at him.
"Hey kid, c'mon, look at me." Aizawa tried to calm him down, but Bakugou wasn't having it. He continued to look, and everyone started to think he was going insane. Great job Todoroki, you've given Bakugou such a bad concussion that he's lost his mind.
"My hearing aid..." Bakugou finally spoke, though it was only just above a whisper.
"What was that, kid?"
"My hearing aid.... I can't find it. It's gone."
Bakugou hates being vulnerable. Having his hearing ripped out of his ear against his will makes him extremely vulnerable, and the head wound and concussion are not helping in the slightest. So it's a very reasonable thing to freak out over. Maybe he's not insane.
"Oh... don't worry, we'll keep looking. It couldn't have gone far. Class, go change back into your uniforms and head to the classroom, I'll be there in a few minutes."
Everyone did as they were told, and Aizawa helped Bakugou find his lost hearing aid.
When they found it, it was crushed and covered in blood. Bakugou was devastated to say the least.
Aizawa took him to Recovery Girl to clean up and close his wounds.
Once that was taken care of, they both walked back to the classroom, neither one daring to speak.
Aizawa walked in first, Bakugou following close behind.
The class was finally looking at Bakugou. Their faces covered in pity and regret.
Bakugou only had his one hearing aid in. He carried the other in a little ziploc bag, hoping that he had every piece so it could be fixed. When Todoroki noticed that, he felt horrible. He already felt horrible about this whole 'ignoring Bakugou' thing, but this was just the icing on the cake.
