One More Chapter 2.0
Harry looked up at the clock and rolled his eyes when he realized what time it was and just how long it had been since he'd last seen his father that day. He pushed off of the sofa and stopped in the kitchen quickly before continuing down to the basement. He didn't bother knocking or calling out. His father would be alerted.
He descended the stairs and opened the door at the bottom, poking his head into the lab.
"Dad?"
"What is it, Harry?"
Harry walked into the lab, stepping up to stand beside Severus who was sat on a stool at a workbench and hunched over an obnoxiously large tome. Harry glanced at the page, but did not bother to examine the text. He wouldn't understand it even if he tried.
"I haven't seen you since breakfast."
"I'm fine, just one more chapter."
Harry rolled his eyes again. "You say that every time I have to come get you."
"Harry..."
Harry raised an eyebrow in a very accurate imitation of Severus when the man's stomach rumbled. "Dad."
"I must finish this research."
Harry sighed and slid the plate of sandwiches and cucumber slices onto the desk beside the book. He turned to leave, but stopped at the light touch that brushed his hand. He turned back to his father curiously.
"Thank you, child," Severus said. "I promise, just one more chapter."
Harry smiled. "Sure, Dad," he said and left the lab.
He'd see Severus tomorrow. It was his birthday after all.
