Ample Space

Severus looked up as his fireplace flared green and put his book aside as bodies started stumbling out. Well, four bodies stepped out and one nearly face-planted. He rolled his eyes at his former-student-turned-friend. Twenty years and the man still couldn't Floo properly.

"Severus, just shut up," Harry said and Severus smirked, raising an eyebrow at the younger man.

"Uncle Severus!" the four children cried in excitement and he braced himself for the bodies crashing into him on the sofa.

"Children," he greeted, managing to ensure they all got their embrace while no injuries were gained. A feat with four preteens and teenagers attempting to hug a single, not necessarily large in any way person sat on a small sofa.

"We're here for our stay!" the youngest, Lily, exclaimed as she arranged herself on his knee, avoiding her brothers who were still attached to Severus' chest and neck.

"I see that," Severus said, sounding unimpressed to anyone but these particular children.

"Kids, ease up," Harry said, dropping his various bags, each belonging to one of four children for their two-week stay with their favourite unofficial uncle.

"Indeed, there is ample space outside my person," Severus said, amused as the boys finally pulled back only to sit on either side of him as close as possible.

"There is, but those spaces do not have your person," Teddy said, clearly trying to sound like Severus and acting as though he'd just made a significant point as James and Albus nodded vigorously in agreement.

Severus huffed a laugh and turned to Harry who was just watching with his own amused affection. Every visit was the same.
