For his first live action film, Walt wanted to get the camera work just right.

Luckily, he knew just who to go to.

For the camera work, Walt hired cinematographer Gregg Toland. 

Gregg Toland is the same guy who filmed Citizen Kane. 

Other films he did were The Grapes of Wrath, The Long Voyage Home, and The Best Years of Our Lives. 

This, however, was his first technicolor production.
