Racism wasn't just in the movie. 

James Baskett, who plays Uncle Remus, was not allowed to the movie's premiere, or even in a hotel there, just because of his skin color. 

I can't speak for Nick Stewart, Johnny Lee, Hattie McDaniel or Glenn Leedy, but James was rejected from the premiere.
