Of course y'all know that Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah won an Oscar for best song. And it really deserved that.

James Baskett actually received an honorary Oscar for singing it and for playing Uncle Remus.

Hattie McDaniel also won an Oscar for best supporting actress.

That makes them the first two black actors to win an award. They really deserved that too.

James was able to receive his Oscar for the portrayal of Uncle Remus, but unfortunately, he died right after he won.
