Alastor was lonely.
He was always lonely. He never had friends, always known as the weirdo of the school. He never had friends, and that was okay to him. He'd rather read a book then spend another second interacting with another being so awkwardly.
He never thought he needed friends, until he met Anthony Ragini.

"Al!" Anthony called, his mismatched eyes gleaming with joy.
They were in high school now. Years and years of friendship have been built since kindergarten, back when Anthony was a new kid.
"Yes, Anthony?" Alastor asked, closing his book and looking at his friend. Anthony had his hands behind his back, hiding something. "I just wanted to give you this for your birthday. I know I'm a bit late for it, but I've been saving money for it and I finally had enough yesterday, so here."
Anthony gave Alastor a box. "A.. box?" Anthony rolled his eyes, "Open it, you dumb-dumb." Alastor chuckled, shaking his head as he opened the box.Inside laid two items. One was a beautiful silver pocket watch, and the other was a book.
But not just any book.
An Italian cookbook, translated in English for him to read. Alastor's eyes widened and he looked at Anthony, "You translated the cookbook for me?" He asked.
Anthony nodded, smiling. "I, uh, saw you eyeing it in the bookstore a couple weeks ago, but it was in Italian and you couldn't read it, so I got a guy to print it in its translations." He shyly twisted a golden lock around his finger.Alastor looked at the pocket watch, then he opened it. A photo of him and his mother was on the cover, whilst the other side had the watch.
In the photo, Alastor was six years old, holding his first hunt. A large stag. He had a humongous grin on his face, and his mother held the same smile, eyes sparkling with pride.
Alastor missed his mother dearly, and looked back at Anthony with shining eyes. "Thank you, Anthony." He whispered, desperate to not cry in front of his friend.
Anthony's eyes softened, and he hugged Alastor. "She would be so proud of how far you came, Al." Anthony whispered back, rubbing his back gently. "Where did you get this photo?" Alastor asked after he calmed down enough.
"Remember when I asked to see that photo of you and your ma? Well, after I got it, I snapped a photo of it with that new camera I got and printed it out. I got it superglued into the pocket watch." Anthony smiled at him, "I'm glad you like it."
"Like it? Anthony, I love it. It's perfect," He paused, looking over at his friend, "You're perfect."Anthony's face flushed, and he giggled. "Aw, shucks Al. You really know how to make a girl blush."
He smiled back at Anthony, "You are no girl, my dear. You are an Angel."
