Chapter 20

" Two months?" Annie said while talking to Jungkook on the phone. He was at his office and had called her after the emergency meeting.

" Yeah.. we have to shoot a song and there's a mini concert in America. "

" Jungkook... I don't know what to say... " she said, trying to control her tears.

"Annie, two months will go by in a blink of an eye.. and I'll call every day no matter how busy we are.." he said softly.

" Hmmm.. so you're leaving immediately?"

" Yeah."

"Hmm."

" Are you crying?"

"No."

There was silence.

" Okay.. all the best." She said, controlling her sadness.

" I love you." He said softly.

She couldn't control anymore and burst into tears. All of these months, she had been feeling his absence just the same way he had. She just masked it with indifference, but somewhere inside her, she knew that she loved him. She had hated herself for it and tried to shove these feelings away with all the strength she had. But he had always made his way into her heart whenever she needed comfort on the darkest nights. She grew up without any kind of endearment, and he was the only person she received it from. How could she not just push away his flaws into haze for some time and draw comfort from his love? How could she not completely, insanely, and obsessively fall in love with him?

" And don't worry. I know you must be scared being alone after the previous events. I've made arrangements for someone to come live with you until I come back."

" What? I'm not scared. You don't need to send anyone! " Annie said quickly.

" Oh, I know you.. you get scared easily."

" Who is coming to live with me??"

" You remember Vivian?"

" What?! Are you serious? Your ex-girlfriend?"

" She wasn't my girlfriend. Just a friend."

" With benefits!"

" No longer, Annie. We are just friends now."

" Why are you even friends with someone you had that kind of past with? I don't approve."

" Annie.. come on.... "

" She's not living here.."

Just then, there was a doorbell.

" Who is this.. at this time?" Annie said, looking at the watch.

" Ummm.. I think it's her." Jungkook said slowly.

" Jungkook.. I swear to God.. "

" Annie, it won't look nice if you ask her to return. Just stay with her for a few days at least. I'm telling you, she's fun. You'll enjoy it a lot."

Annie felt like hitting Jungkook with something after he said Vivian was fun to be with. The doorbell kept ringing. She just cut the call and threw the phone on her bed.

She opened the door to find Vivian standing there with her luggage. She hadn't changed at all. Except she had more tattoos than before. Her hair was longer.

"Thanks for coming." Annie finally said a few words while eating dinner with Vivian.

" No problem. I can't deny his requests. Whether it's sex or other favors. That's my biggest weakness. " She said, sipping the soup.

Annie rolled her eyes and took a huge sigh. Vivian looked at her upset face and said,
