"hey luke where are you going" charlie shouted to the older man who looked like he was about to walk upstairs to his apartment .

which is ridiculous because it's the busiest time of the day so obviously he can't be leaving.

"telling my nephew to be down here in 30 seconds or he's living on the streets" luke said grumpily.

"wait you have a nephew?"

"yes a very annoying one"

as luke went upstairs charlie's favourite pair of girls walked in.

"oh my god, i need help" charlie said panting over the counter.

"what's up, why are you alone?" lorelai questioned knowing how much the blonde hated being alone with all the customers.

"luke has gone to get his stupid nephew, who apparently can't get up on time."

"oh yeah, jess" lorelai said with a smirk on her face. " i don't think you two will get on very well"

"why is that dear lorelai?" charlie questioned walking over to kirk who was aiming to get more sugar packets.

"he's very, well, i'll just wait for you to meet him."

"wait when did you meet him?" rory questioned.

in perfect timing luke came down with jess pushing him making him stumble down the last step.

"right jess, this is charlie, you will listen to her and not cause her trouble" luke commanded jess in a serious voice while walking up to charlie who had her hands on her hips studying the boy.

"why should i listen to a girl who looks about 14 and is the size of a garden gnome?" jess said looking bored at both charlie and luke.

charlie was about to whip the boy with the towel that was tucked into her apron but luke grabbed her shoulders to make her stay put.

"that's just rude first of all i turn 17 next month you prick" charlie remarks. "and you're not much taller than me probably 5'6 as best"

over in the corner of the diner lorelai and rory start giggling but quickly stop seeing luke giving them a stern look.

"please don't encourage them" he pleads the both of them. "charlie get back to work please, jess will be helping  once i've shown him around"

charlie gets back to taking orders but not without glaring at jess from time to time.

"im placing a bet that charlie is gonna end up killing that boy" lorelai says while giggling to rory.

"i hope you mean mentally" rory says with a laugh, looking at the pair.

"maybe" lorelai shrugs.

it was now time for charlie's shift to end and jess and charlie had not spoken to eachother since their first interaction.

"luke can i go home now?" charlie questioned.

"only if you go to school tomorrow" luke replied not even looking at the blonde who was on the other side of the counter.

"luke that's not fair"

"charlotte prescott you will never graduate if you don't go to school"

"im not gonna graduate anyway" muttered charlie while turning chairs upside down on tables.

jess starts making his way towards the table that charlie was cleaning up.

"so prescott?" jess started. "not liking school?"

"leave me alone mariano."

"no i don't think so, also im getting an accent from you, england?" remarked jess.

"yes moved here when i was 14"

"so last month?"

charlie just sighed and said goodbye to luke ,who has also promised her free coffee if she went to school ,while walking backwards out the diner almost walking into some customers.
