charlie was running as fast as she could, which actually wasn't that fast. she was chasing the boy who now had her soaked because he pulled her in the lake.
she wasn't looking where he went and she lost him but she had a good idea of where he went.
"luke where is he!" charlie shouted at luke making some customers jump as she stormed in the diner.
"who? and why do you look like you just jumped in the lake?" luke questioned.
"really that's funny because it was your nephew that pushed me in" she spoke getting louder as she went on. " and i can't go home because i have a shift that starts now"
"go upstairs, ask jess for some and ill be up in a minute" luke replied not realising he'd just told the girl where the boy she was furious at was.
"is that where jess is, im going to kill him" charlie said running up the stairs with luke chasing after her knowing that she would most definitely would try.
as she came to the door of the apartment she barged in and saw jess in clean clothes and had already dried off.
"what, how?" she questioned knowing she had only been a couple minutes behind him.
"you're slow prescott" he deadpanned.
she was about to start chasing him again when luke stepped in between them to stop anything from happening.
"jess give charlie some clothes please" luke asked the boy while taking the cigarette out of his mouth chucking it out the window.
charlie found herself sat on the bed and staring into space which she found herself doing quite often. she always had stuff to think about. right now she was thinking about when her mum would come back. she had already been gone a few weeks and charlie missed her.
"charlie come on, you're making my bed wet" luke said only now realising where the girl was sat."right i'm going to go down to the diner and work and then both of you will come down and work till close, okay?" he said while pointing fingers at both of them.
"okay" the two teens replied in unison and charlie got up and took the pile of clothes luke was holding out for her and went in the bathroom.
now charlie wasn't too short but she was shorter than she would admit, she was 5'3. however she would always round it up to 5'4, now jess was maybe 5'9 but his clothes were still massive, and as she was given sweatpants and a t shirt they were already meant to be oversized so she had to roll the sweatpants like 4 times and they were still to big and it looked like she was drowning in the t-shirt.
"um jess, have you got anything smaller" the girl asked coming out of the bathroom.
the boy just looked over and rolled his eyes ,got up and walked over to the girl with a rubber band in his hand and another cigarette in his mouth.
"what, you just happen to have a rubber band on you?" she asked while turning around to look at him but he put his hands on her waist and turned her so her back was facing him.
"stay still" he muttered with the cigarette still in his mouth while he tied the t-shirt up at the back and tucked it under.
charlie couldn't help but shiver as his warm fingers grazed her back and his breath tickled her neck.
once he'd finished he stepped back and sat back down on the blowup bed.
"give me that" charlie spoke to the boy and took the cigarette out of his mouth and put it in hers taking a drag laying down on the bed that jess was sat on.
charlie always used to smoke but she stopped when luke kept printing out pictures of diseased lungs. however she still did from time to time but not as frequently.
"come on, we've got to help luke" charlie exclaimed using her hands to pull herself up. however jess wasn't moving so charlie grabbed jess' hands and pulled him up and started pushing him down the stairs.
"will you stop that"jess asked trying to swat the blondes hands away, this resulted in her shoving him making him wobble down the last step.
"finally, i was about to come get you both took you long enough" luke grumbled as the two got to work.
"luke, my apron please" charlie asked seeing as she couldn't tie it herself even though it's surprising seeing as she's been working here since she arrived in the town.
"you can't tie your own apron" jess sneered with a judgemental face trying to get a rise from the girl.
"no i can't" bickered charlie while chucking her middle finger up from the side as luke did her apron up.
charlie and jess worked through their shift with bickers and glares throughout making luke regret making them ever work the same shift.
