The third principle is interchangeability. This is vastly important. You only Do yourself harm and increase your chances of ending up in the wrong end of altercation or fight. When you let yourself get stuck in the false belief that there is one right system, rule set,or process when it comes to defending yourself successfully. You can do decently well with one practice or process but against your greatest foes you will falter Due to predictability. Every system has atleast a few moves, tactics,or footwork that can be useful. It all depends on the situation. The style your opponent is using changes what you should use. Their body type does too. There level of skill. Their experience and age. Their natural talents and movements. Where you're fighting . How much space there is. How hard the surface is. Are you fighting on a raised area. Also so much more. So the principle of interchangeability . Means do not come in with any preconceived process you're bond to stick too. Your footwork, tactics, defense and offense must adapt to what will work in each specific situation and that situation only.
