author's note:

i would like to apologise in advance... this one-shot is a mess and kindaaa all over the place 😅 it was surprisingly difficult to actually add in some story and not just make this sylus running his mouth like he does in game 🤭 buuut, i've been working on this for a while now and i was getting annoyed at how long it was taking (especially since i wanna start working on the next one-shots), so i just wanted to get it finished and uploaded... i will 100% be going over this later and tweaking/cleaning up some things! in the meantime, i hope it's at least readable and you can enjoy it — thanks for reading, loves!

(i want this vampire to devour me 🥴)

———————————

It was a dark and somewhat stormy night in the N109 Zone, with the faint light of the moon being obscured by the charcoal-coloured clouds that were scattered across the sky. The low rumbles of thunder could be heard every now and then, mixed with the pitter-patter of rain on the windows outside.

For the past couple of days, I'd been staying with Sylus at Onychinus's base; I'd come to visit to get his help with something and had unintentionally spent the night, then stayed another day and then another. Being with him every day had so quickly become normality that even the thought of heading back home to Linkon made me feel uneasy... I could tell Sylus occasionally wondered why I was sticking around so much, though thankfully, he didn't choose to question me about it.

Sheltered from the storm, Sylus and I were in the living room, sitting side by side on the couch watching a scary movie on the large TV. I had a soft blanket wrapped around my shoulders and my knees tucked up against my chest, whilst Sylus's arm was draped across the back of the couch behind my head. I'd been still for quite a while, though the movie was reaching a particularly scary part and I shuffled in my seat to avoid looking at it.

"What?" Sylus asked, glancing over at me with a slight look of surprise. "Oh, you're still awake?"

"Of course I'm awake. The movie is too loud," I whined.

"You're the one who asked me to put on a movie to help you fall asleep. Now you're complaining it's too loud." He chuckled and shook his head. "You're fussy, kitten." I chose not to make whatever sassy remark emerged in my mind and simply edged closer to him, allowing my head to rest slightly on his arm. "Why did you move closer?"

I nonchalantly shrugged, keeping my gaze lingering somewhere between his face and the TV. "No reason. I'm just enjoying my time here."

"Do you really like this place?" His voice was full of genuine curiosity mixed with a hint of what I believed to be joy; his slight smile was cute. "You're so excited that you can't sleep."

"Maybe I just like being taken care of... it's the life of luxury."

"Okay, okay. You're spoiled rotten, that's for sure," Sylus replied, raising his hand to ruffle my hair. After such a playful gesture, he let out a sigh and allowed his arm to fall and rest across my shoulders, using it as an excuse to pull me even closer. His voice lowered to just above a whisper before he spoke again, the smooth, deep tone giving me goosebumps. "Stay here a few more days. After all... it's just you and me."

Feeling my cheeks flush red, I leaned over to rest my head on his shoulder and buried my face into his shirt. I was trying my best to hide the smile that was inevitably pulling at my lips, but even so, I had no doubt he knew I was flustered and was revelling in the knowledge that he'd caused it.

"In that case, I'm looking forward to tomorrow."

Out of the corner of my eye, I could just about see Sylus quirk an eyebrow in interest. "You already know what to do tomorrow? Tell me." I tapped my index finger to my lips as if hinting at some sort of secrecy. "Yeah, I'll leave the planning to you. I'll see what you're planning first and then decide whether I'll come."
