Ironies

I woke up on the floor of the Submarine... again. I was confused and realized I couldn't move. I knew the drill though and didn't panic. Then the control of my body came back.

"Well... that didn't seem fair."

You just weren't expecting it. You need to get a grip.

"Hey. I have a grip. I'm not screaming, am I?"

I meant you need to tighten your grip on the locker's doors.

"Oh."

The submarine door opened and I stepped outside again. I was ready to get started when the PA turned on again.

"We request that you turn back now. We've recently discovered that an entity know as V-436 has escaped containment and is looking for or has found a host."

"What?"

"I repeat you must..."

The power soon went out and something fell from above onto the submarine behind me, sinking the submarine.

"Holy shit!"

Then the power came back on. There was groaning heard over the PA before it suddenly stopped transmitting anything.

"What the hell was that?"

I don't know. An entity probably.

"No doi! I mean specifically!"

I sighed before pulling out my journal.

"Let's just get back on track... and hopefully something bad doesn't happen."

I opened my journal again.

"Huh. Pandemonium. That's just a dandy name."

I read what I could and sighed.

"Basically what you said is all I need to know. Wish I had buff,  jacked arms for this."

You... why would you say it like that?

"Wouldn't you like to know..."

Silence for a few seconds. I then put my book away and started looking through the lockers, and drawers. I grabbed the keycard.

"So... no flashlight. I see."

"Psst."

"Woah! Um... hello?"

"In here."

I looked behind me and saw a door. I was at the drawer with the keycard. I went through it, and there was this guy sitting in a chair. Well, not a normal guy. He had a black sphere as a head, and two white lines for eyes. He was wearing some guard uniform and said,

"Heard you liked having stuff."

"I... suppose so."

"Well you're in the right place then."

He pulled out a flashlight from a box next to him. I was just over all confused.

"So... do I have to pay with research or..."

"Unfortunately I don't take research. That's Sebastian's job. I take ironies."

"Huh?"

"Check your back pocket."

I was so absorbed in the whole going through doors thing, that I didn't realize I had a back pocket. I checked it, and there was coinage in it. I pulled out twenty five of these ironies and handed them over.

"Is that enough? I have more if you need it."

He grabbed my hand and placed the flashlight in it.

"That's all I need. Enjoy your little quest."

Then a white glowing line that looked like a smile appeared on his face. It was a bit sinister, but whatever. I walked out of the little shop area, and then the door slammed shut behind me. I turned around to say that was rude, but the door was gone.

"Weird."

Very weird. Let's hope that's not that entity, and let's hope that this flashlight doesn't blow your face off.

"Yeah."

I turned the flashlight on, and it worked.

"Huh. Well it seems it works."

I turned it off, and then I began our cycle of death again. Yippee. Yay. Notice the lack of exclamation points.

Door 6. The angler. Door 10. Dark room. Avoided squidles. Door 15. That white armless guy appeared again. Shooed him off.  Soon I then came to an interesting room on door 25

"Wait... I recognize this... this is the fucking game theory live set up! Haha! This is so cool!" (Yes. This is actually in the game)

I looked around and found nothing useful. It was really cool to see this though.

"I wonder if the people who made this is a fan of matpat. Doesn't really matter. Still really cool to see."

I lingered there for a bit and even tried the couch. I had to run to a locker though when the lights flickered.

"Fuck fuck fuck. Get me in!"

I barely made it in and closed the locker's doors before the angler moved by. There was this weird green smoke though... it... I began to cough. I coughed a lot and burst out of the cabinet. I fell on the floor.

"Fuuuck." I coughed twice as this stuff started to dissipate. "I was barely able to stay in there until that thing passed."

Yeah. Another variant. He was slow.

"Yeah. Noticed."

I coughed once more before getting up and continuing. I learned my lesson. Don't linger in one place too long.

Door 30... Door 40... Door 48 and then bam. There's the shop.

"Psst. Need anything."

I climbed through the vent quickly and again flopped on the floor. I was tired from booking it to here.

"Ah. Welcome, welcome. My name's Sebastian and..."

"You sell stuff for research and all that jazz."

I got up and quickly looked at the items. I quickly grabbed the hand cranked flashlight, a med kit, and a flash beacon. I quickly handed over the research, grabbed the keycard, and then I tried leaving. He stopped me right before I could though.

"Hey! You can't just burst in here, knowing who I am and what I do without an explanation."

I stopped and froze. I was getting used to the time loop thing and seeing stuff repeatedly.

Make an excuse before he gets angry.

"Well... I came across another team, and they told me about you. I'm in a rush though so byyyyyeeeee."

I crawled through the vent quickly and made it to the door. I used the keycard, and then after my tunnel vision passed from the fear of another death, I realized this was some big ass blast door.

"Looks like we're going into an interesting place."

Indeed.

I entered, and then the PA was turned on. There was somebody with a different voice on though. A women.

"I'll be your new caretaker. We found the last one dead on the floor in his microphone room. We are still researching what happened to him, and his missing parts. Back to the subject at hand though. The doors have been locked manually until you have fixed some equipment in this sector we have. Proceed."

"Shit... I was starting to like hearing that guy's voice... that sounds like Sebastian's voice."

...

"I'm not going to question it."

I then walked through the door, and started to look for a keycard for the two doors in the way.
