Shuichi didn't even remember the walk from school to his house, or why it took so long. The sun was setting by the time he opened the door, everything feeling like a blur. He couldn't tell what emotions he was feeling anymore, not even considering he would get in trouble if dinner wasn't done by the time his uncle got home. Or that his uncle's car was already outside. The only thing on his mind was laying down, opening his bedroom door and slightly stumbling into the room. Upon seeing his uncle in it, he immediately came back to his senses, eyes widening. His uncle was awkwardly standing in the middle of the room, shocked at first to see Shuichi walk in, before turning to an expression of anger.
"Where have you been," he asked, crossing his arms. "I tried calling you ten times."
Shuichi didn't answer, body shaking with anger. His eyes darted around the room, trying to spot anything that may be out of place. Everything seemed normal, even his disguise exactly where he left it in the same position.
"Answer me! Where were you? Were you stalking that boy?"
Shuichi's eyes locked onto his uncle as he replied, "What did you just ask me?"
His uncle was taken aback by the tone, this being a new side to Shuichi he's never seen before. "You heard me. Kaito told me you've been stalking that new guy. Didn't I tell you to-"
"It isn't true! Teenagers start rumors all the time. I'm sorry I didn't answer but I needed some alone time. Do you know how hard it is to deal with people at school thinking you are a freak?"
"That is no excuse to slack off. This is my house, and you will do as I say."
"Why are you even in my room? Can I not have any privacy? I have always done exactly what you tell me to do. And yet this is how you treat me." His voice broke as he shouted, tears building up.
His uncle quickly walked up to him and smacked him, all the anger in Shuichi disappearing into fear. "This is not your room. I bought this house. I pay for the bills. I took you in out of the kindness in my heart. But this will never be your house. If I could, I'd send you right back to your parents."
Tears began streaming down Shuichi's cheeks, his body now shaking with sadness. He was struggling to control his breathing, mind scrambling for a while to fix the situation so he could be left alone. As if the day wasn't stressful enough, the thought of his parents was sending him overboard.
"If I ever hear anything else about this boy or you stalking someone again, I will not hesitate to throw you out onto the streets. Do you understand?"
Shuichi nodded, too scared to look his uncle in the eyes. His uncle huffed, storming out of the house as Shuichi fell to the floor. He allowed himself to have a small cry before picking himself back up, wanting to get the chores and dinner done as soon as possible. He wasn't sure when or if his uncle would be back today but wanted to be prepared regardless.
Dissociation once again took hold of him as he deep cleaned the living room and kitchen, not even noticing he accidentally cut his hand on a broken beer bottle. It wouldn't be the first time anyways, almost feeling numb to the feeling. Once the place seemed good enough to keep him out of another lecture, he began preparing everything in the kitchen for dinner. However, as he opened the fridge door, he stopped breathing at the sight before him. Every single thing that had been in the fridge was now gone, including the meat. At first, he assumed his uncle uncovered his secret and threw it all out, quickly discarding that theory was he realized his uncle would've arrested him on the spot. The most likely answer was that all the food was confiscated. He rushed to open the freezer and cabinets, finding those empty as well. The realization that he wasn't allowed food tonight was hitting him hard, not helping with his already emotional state.
