THE DAYS FOLLOWING Mya's diagnosis were a whirlwind of consultations, appointments, & emotional highs & lows for Nick, Priyanka, & their precious daughter.
Nick scrolled through his phone, searching for information on pediatric oncologists. Priyanka sat beside him, her laptop open to a list of hospitals specializing in neuroblastoma treatment.
"We have to find the best care for Mya," Nick said, his voice determined.
Priyanka nodded, her brow furrowed with a worry. "I've contacted a few hospitals already. We're waiting to hear back about consultations."
Just then, the doorbell rang. It was Sarah Thompson, Mya's therapist, with a bouquet of flowers in hand. "I heard about Mya. How are you all holding up?"
Nick managed a weak smile, accepting the flowers. "It's been tough. We're still processing everything."
Sarah nodded sympathetically. "I'm here to support you in any way I can. Mya is a strong girl."
They spent the afternoon discussing Mya's treatment options & the emotional toll it was taking on the family. Sarah offered guidance on how to help Mya cope with the changes ahead.
"Routine & consistency will be key," Sarah advised. "But also, don't forget to take care of yourselves. Mya will sense your emotions."
Nick glanced at Priyanka, gratitude filling his heart. "Thank you, Sarah. We appreciate your support."

Over the next few days, they met with several pediatric oncologists, each consultation bringing a mix of hope & despair. They finally settled on Dr. David Johnson, a leading expert in neuroblastoma research.
Dr. Johnson greeted them warmly in his office, Mya sitting quietly beside Priyanka. "Mr. & Mrs. Jonas, Mya," he began, his tone both professional & empathetic. "I've reviewed Mya's case, & I believe we can create a treatment plan that gives her the best chance."
Nick leaned forward, his hands gripping on the edge of his chair. "What do we need to do, doctor?"
Dr. Johnson explained the chemotherapy regimen, the potential for surgery to remove the tumor, & the importance of ongoing monitoring. Mya listened intently, her gaze shifting between her parents & the doctor.
Priyanka asked about the side effects, her voice steady despite her fear. Dr. Jonson reassured them, outlining strategies to manage nausea, fatigue, & other challenges Mya might face during treatment.
"We'll be with you every step of the way," Dr. Johnson promised, his confidence instilling a sense of hope in Nick & Priyanka.

After the consultation, they walked through the hospital corridors in silence, each lost in their own thoughts. Mya clutched Priyanka's hand Rochelle, her face serious.
Nick broke the silence as they approached the parking lot. "Mya, are you okay?"
Mya nodded slowly, her eyes glistening with shed tears. "Okay."
Nick crouched down, meeting her gaze. "We're going to help you get better, Mya. Dr. Johnson is going to take care of you."
Mya nodded again, a faint smile tugging at her lips. "Care."
Nick's heart ached at her innocence. "Yes, sweetheart. Lots of care."

That evening, they gathered in Mya's room, surrounded by toys & comforting familiarities. Nick strummed his guitar softly, a soothing melody filling the air. Priyanka sang along softly, her voice blending with Nick's in a lullaby that had become Mya's favorite.
As Mya drifted off to sleep, nestled between her parents, Nick & Priyanka shared a look of determination. They were facing the greatest challenge of their lives, but together, they knew they could weather any storm.
"We'll get through this, Pri," Nick whispered, his voice wavering with emotion.
Priyanka squeezed his hand, her eyes shimmering with tears. "We will, babe. For Mya."
In that moment, as they held onto each other & their precious daughter, they found strength in their love & their unwavering commitment to fight for Mya's future.
