Ch.12: A Special Visitor

THE WEEKS ROLLED ON, each day marked by the familiar routines of treatments & tender moments of family bonding. Mya's health ebbed & flowed, but her spirit remained undimmed, a beacon of resilience that inspired everyone around her.

One day, as Mya sat by the window watching the clouds drift by, there was a soft knock on the door. Nick & Priyanka exchanged curious glances before Nick stood to answer it.

To their surprise, standing there was Taylor Swift, a longtime friend of the Jonas family. She held a guitar case in one hand & a bouquet of flowers in the other.

Taylor!" Nick exclaimed, his face lighting up with a smile. "What are you doing here?"

Taylor smiled warmly, stepping into the room. "I heard about what's going on with Mya & wanted to come by. Is that okay?"

Priyanka nodded, her eyes bright with gratitude. "Of course, Taylor. Mya will be thrilled."

Mya turned from the window, her eyes widening as she saw Taylor. "Taylor!" she exclaimed, recognizing the singer from the music videos & songs she loved.

Taylor crouched down to Mya's level, her smile gentle & kind. "Hi, Mya. I brought you some flowers."

Mya took the bouquet, her fingers tracing the petals. "Flowers pretty," she said softly.

Taylor's eyes sparkled. "I'm glad you like them. Do you mind if I pay a song for you?"

Mya nodded eagerly, her face lighting up with excitement. "Song?"

Taylor sat on the edge of Mya's bed, opening her guitar case & pulling out her guitar. She tuned it quickly, her fingers deft & practiced.

"Any special requests, Mya?" Taylor asked, her tone playful.

Mya thought for a moment, then said, "Shake It Off."

Taylor laughed, her eyes twinkling. "Good choice!"

As Taylor began to strum the familiar chords, Nick & Priyanka settled in beside Mya, watching as their daughter's face lit up with joy. Taylor's voice filled the room, warm & clear, & Mya sang along, her small voice blending with Taylor's.

"Cause the players gonna play, play, play..." Mya sang, her eyes shining with happiness.

Taylor finished the song with a flourish, & the room erupted in applause. Mya clapped enthusiastically, her smile wide & bright.

"That was amazing, Taylor," Nick said, his voice filled with gratitude. "Thank you."

Taylor placed her guitar back in its case & turned to Mya. "I'm so glad I could sing for you, Mya. You're such a special gift."

Mya reached out, hugging Taylor tightly. "Thank you, Taylor."

Taylor hugged her back, her eyes misting with emotion. "You're welcome, sweetheart."

As the afternoon turned into evening, Taylor stayed with the family, sharing stories & laughter. She played more songs, each one bringing more smiles & joy to Mya's face. The hospital room, usually filled with hum of medical equipment & quiet conversations, was alive with music & happiness.

Later, as Taylor prepared to leave, she knelt down to Mya once more. "Keep being strong, Mya. You've got an amazing family & so many people who love you."

Mya nodded, her eyes solemn. "Strong."

Taylor kissed her on the forehead & hugged Nick & Priyanka. "If you need anything, don't hesitate to call," she said, her voice sincere.

"Thank you, Taylor," Priyanka said, her voice thick with emotion. "You've made today so special for Mya."

Taylor smiled, giving them one last wave before heading out the door.

As the room quieted down & Mya settled into bed, Nick & Priyanka sat beside her, their hearts full.

"Today was fun," Mya said sleepily, her eyes closing.

"It was, sweetheart," Nick whispered, brushing a strand of hair from her forehead. "We'll have more days like this."

Priyanka nodded, her hand resting on Mya's shoulder. "We promise, Mya. We'll make every day special."

As Mya drifted off to sleep, Nick & Priyanka exchanged a look of unspoken understanding. They knew that no matter how hard the journey ahead, they had the support of friends & family to lift them up. And in moments like these, they found the strength to keep moving forward, one day at a time.
