Ch.17: The Surprise

WEEKS WENT BY, & Mya's condition began to show signs of improvement. The aggressive treatment was tough, but Mya's resilience & the unwavering support from her family & friends kept her spirits high. One evening, after a particularly good day, Priyanka had an idea.

"Nick," she whispered as they sat by Mya's bedside, watching her sleep. "What if we plan a surprise for Mya? Something to lift her spirits even more."

Nick looked at her, curiosity piqued. "What do you have in mind?"

"A small party," Priyanka suggested, her eyes sparking with excitement. "We could invite some of her favorite people & have it right here in the hospital. It would be a wonderful surprise for her." P

Nick smiled, his heart warmed by the idea. "I love it. Let's do it."

The next morning, while Mya was undergoing her routine check-up, Nick & Priyanka began making calls. They reached out to family, friends, & some of Mya's favorite celebrities. Everyone they called was eager to be part of the surprise.

Joe & Kevin were the first to arrive at the hospital with supplies. They brought balloons, streamers, & colorful decorations.

"Hey, Nick," Joe greeted, carrying a huge bag of party favors. "Ready to turn this room into party central?"

Nick grinned. "Absolutely. Thanks for helping out."

Kevin started unpacking decorations. "Anything for Mya. Let's get to work."

As they decorated the room, Priyanka made arrangements with the hospital staff to use a small lounge area nearby. The nurses & doctors were more than happy to accommodate, knowing how much it would mean to Mya.

Meanwhile, Selena & Demi arrived with cupcakes & treats. "We've got the sweets covered," Selena said, setting down a box of beautifully decorated cupcakes.

"Anything else we can do?" Demi asked, looking around at the colorful decorations.

Priyanka smiled. "Thank you both. Could you help set up the food table?"

"Of course," Selena replied, rolling up her sleeves.

The room was transformed into a vibrant, cheerful space. Bright balloons floated around, colorful streamers hung from the ceiling, & the table was laden with treats. Just as they finished, Denise & the Jonas family arrived with gifts & more food.

"This look amazing," Denise said, her eyes shining with pride. "Mya is going to love it."

Finally, with everything in place, Nick & Priyanka went to fetch Mya. They found her chatting with Dr. Johnson, who had been in on the plan.

"Hey, Mya," Priyanka said, her voice filled with excitement. "We have a little surprise for you."

Mya's eyes widened. "A surprise? What is it?"

"You'll see," Nick replied, lifting her into his arms. "Ready?"

Mya nodded eagerly as they carried her to the decorated lounge area. When they opened the door, everyone inside shouted, "Surprise!"

Mya's face lit up with joy & disbelief. "Wow! A party! For me?"

"Just for you, sweetheart," Nick said, setting her down gently. "Look who's here."

Mya's eyes scanned the room, her smile growing wider with each familiar face she saw. "Selena! Demi! Grandma! Uncle Joe & Uncle Kevin!"

Selena knelt down to Mya's level, handing her a cupcake. "Happy party day, Mya. We're all here to celebrate you."

Demi hugged her gently. "You're our little superstar."

Mya giggled, her eyes sparkling with happiness. "Thank you!"

As the party went on, Mya moved from one activity to another, her laughter filling the room. She played games with her uncles, colored pictures with Selena, & even had a mini sing-along with Demi.

Nick & Priyanka stood back for a moment, watching their daughter. "Look at her, babe," Priyanka said, tears of happiness in her eyes. "She's so happy."

Nick nodded, his voice choked with emotion. "This is exactly what she needed. Thank you for suggesting this, Pri."

Later, as the party wound down, Priyanka brought out a large cake decorated with rainbows & unicorns. Everyone gathered around, singing "Happy Birthday" even though it wasn't Mya's actual birthday. It was a celebration of her strength & spirit.

Mya blew out the candles with a big, triumphant puff. "I made a wish!" she declared, her eyes twinkling.

"What did you wish for?" Joe asked, grinning.

Mya shook her head, giggling. "I can't tell! It's a secret."

Everyone laughed, the room filled with warmth & love. As the evening came to a close, they helped Mya open her presents, each one bringing more smiles & laughter.

Finally, it was time for Mya to rest. As Nick & Priyanka tucked her into bed, Mya looked up at them, her eyes shining with gratitude. "Thank you for the party. It was the best day ever."

Priyanka kissed her forehead. "We're so glad you enjoyed it, sweetheart."

Nick smiled, holding her hand. "You're our sunshine, Mya. We'll always find ways to make you smile."

As Mya drifted off to sleep, Nick & Priyanka sat by her side, their hearts full of love & hope. The surprise party had been a success, a bright beacon of joy in the midst of their challenging journey. And as they watched their daughter sleep, they knew they would continue to create moments like these, cherishing every smile & laugh along the way.

"Goodnight, our brave girl," Priyanka whispered, her voice filled with emotion. "We love you so much."

And with that, they turned off the lights, leaving the room filled with the soft glow of their love & the promise of more joyful days to come.
