Maybe
One day
We'll run into each other
Somewhere
When we're older
And time has done its work
To dull the feelings and memories.
Maybe then
We could tell each other
What had really happened
And why.
And we would both listen
To our sides
Without yelling,
Arguments,
More harsh words
And pain.
Maybe we could come
To an understanding
And forgive
And learn how
To be best friends again
Or at least
Friendly acquaintances.
Until then
I still don't hate you.
Do you hate me?
I wish you the best
Wherever you may go
And that all your dreams
Come true
And you find many people
Who will care for you.
And I hope that
If you ever think of me
You can at least smile a little.
Or if you can't
That you don't think of me at all
Except to use your experiences
To make you stronger
And wiser.
And I want you to remember
That just because
Someone was a bad friend
Doesn't always mean
That they meant to be.
