HUNTER

The whole night I felt restless and just slept for 3-4 hours. So, I hit the gym early today and stayed there for 3 hours.

I have just gotten out of the shower, when there is a knock at the door. I have been checking my emails and waiting for my morning coffee and breakfast but when I open the door, it isn't my coffee.

"Good morning! Mr. Adams." Greets Michaels, all cheerful.

Leaning on the door frame of my room, I cut to the point, "Are the papers ready?" I ask, folding my arms over my chest.

"Yes, Mr. Adams. All done and ready as you asked." He responds.

"You haven't changed anything, have you? You never know what she would do if you did." I remind him.

He looks a little embarrassed and a little scared when he says, "No, I haven't changed a thing and I am sure her lawyer will check, before she signs anything."

I nod, just then my room service arrives with my coffee so, I shoo Michaels away.

I don't have time for chit chat.

After breakfast, I dive into my work meetings, emails and deal negotiations for next 5 hours. And in no time, it's already four o'clock in the evening so, I check up on my sister and grandma. By the time I am finished with them, another hour has passed.

So, for a while I walk around the hotel garden taking in the scene and fresh air. Walking around I enter the restaurant where I have to meet with Miss Sinh.

It is still early so I thought of having a drink or two before she arrives. God knows I need it but as I enter the private section of the restaurant, she is already there on the same table with a drink in her hand, looking out of the window beside her.

I stop in the doorway. Her back is to me so, she hasn't seen me yet. She is lost in her thoughts, leisurely drinking her drink.

Today she is in all black, black shirt, black jeans and black boots. I slowly walk towards her, she looks different from yesterday. It seems she didn't care yesterday who she was meeting and today she looks ready to... fight.

I clear my throat pointedly, nothing. I frown, I don't think it safe to get so lost in your thoughts that you are not even aware of your surroundings.

Her face is turned to her left, to the scene outside her window and it's completely blank and I can't look at her eyes behind her black rimmed spectacles.

"Miss Sinh." I call as normally as I can, trying not to startle her but nothing. No reaction, not even a blink of her eyes. This makes me frown even more. I knock twice on the table and call her again, "Miss Sinh."

This time she blinks twice coming out of her reverie. Slowly, she turns her head towards me, meeting my eyes.

If I wasn't already sitting, I would have stumbled back a little after seeing the look in her eyes.

Dead.

That's the word I would use for the look in those chocolate brown eyes.

Absolutely dead eyes, there's nothing in them. What the fuck happened between yesterday and today?

I feel my scowl deepening as I lean over the table and demand, "What happened?"

A blink and its gone. If I wasn't so focused on her, I would have thought that I imagined it.

She straightens in her chair, face and eyes blank but there is no trace of her earlier expression in her eyes.

"Mr. Adams." she nods in greeting like she never heard my question.
