The noise of a gunshot echoes from the TV. Mia gasps loudly at the scene of Nayanthara shooting Shahrukh on the screen. Due to the sudden shock, Mia's body jerks up the impact causing the popcorn to jump out of the basket and fall on our laps

"How could she shoot him? Like dude, you both just married!" Mia yells in frustration, her interest would make anyone believe that this is happening in real life and not on screen. She curls her legs up on the couch sitting comfortably, her body cuddled up with a soft and thin blanket

I sigh, lifting the remote and press the pause button before the further plot twists shock her even more.

It's a Friday night, Mia has been requesting to let her watch an Indian movie with her but she wanted a mixture of romance and action. Hence, I selected Jawan. Shahrukh Khan's last release

There's no way I was going to choose something else instead of his movie

We lounged on the couch sinking in the soft cushions, the conversation pit gives the living room a comfortable atmosphere to watch the movie. The AC turned on with dim lights matching the vibes

As soon as the movie began, Mia was very invested in it like her medical books. She couldn't take her eyes off the screen especially due to the music, plot and of course our main star. The subtitles are displayed at the bottom of the screen to help her understand Hindi. Everything was good and smooth until the main twists started to take place

The first is, Nayanthara the female lead of the movie marrying Shahrukh Khan the male lead of the movie. And just on their wedding night she gets to know about his secret and shoots him thinking that he betrayed her trust

Not gonna lie even I screamed when I saw that scene for the first time

The best wedding present?

A permanent gunshot mark. Bravo!

"Mia, calm down. He isn't gonna die" I say assuring her, while picking up the popcorn from here and there. She frowns and looks back at the paused video "Still, how can she just shoot him? Like hello?" Her voice was a mixture of annoyance and also curiosity

"You gotta watch and find out" Saying that I play the video and sink back in my seat. The movie comes back to life again, with the sound effects and dialogue. Mia clenches the pillow against her chest, her eyebrows scrunched together watching another scene take place

A smile forms on my lips looking at her reaction

On Fridays, her whole family is busy. Aunt Emily manages something about her company, Aunt Lia is gone yet on another trip, Liam is busy with work and Stella is too. Leaves out Mia and me

Not to mention someone who has been missing for the past few days

I stuff some popcorn inside my mouth, munching on the crunchy and buttery on my tongue while enjoying the movie. As the story continues an idea pops into my head. I plop my elbow on the cushion on my left side, resting my chin on my hand.
