A Shy Girl & A Wild Horse
Chapter 1~
Daydreams after daydreams. That's how people survive through the horrible, discussing, scary, boring, etc. - Math Class.
No one pays attention to the teacher except the nerds of course, or me.
I wouldn't consider myself a nerd, I don't have glasses and I don't ace everything. But I do make good grades. But I pay attention because if I don't and my eyes wander other places then I'll get dirty looks from other people. Sometimes people will even throw messages on my desk saying,
'Go die somewhere.'
'No one likes you.'
'I don't even see why your still living.'
But I take those notes and crumble them up and throw them in the trash can looking like I don't care.
But we all know that it hurts. It hurts bad. Being called ugly or stupid isn't something that won't hurt your feelings.
But when you get used to it...it's easier to ignore. But it still hurts.
My friend nudged me out of my current daydream and mouthed,
"Two more minutes."
Math was the last period of the day, I'm in the advanced stuff with my best and only true friend, Caitlin.
She used to be really popular until she hung out with me after someone had slapped me across the face for saying something back to the person who hit me.
After that they didn't let her in the 'popular' group anymore.
We became best friends, and we became best friends so quickly because of what we have in common.
1. We both have bad bully problems.
2. We both have blue eyes.
3. We hate school.
And many more things. The things that we don't have in common are.
1. She has light brown hair.
2. I have natural really blonde hair.
3. She is shorter and I am tall.
4. She is a cheerleader, I just play random sports, mostly soccer.
And a few other things too.
But anyways we both HATE last period. Yes I know that sounds very stupid and other things but if you were terrified of what was outside the door, you would understand.
When that bell rings, Hell is set loose.
Once you step out of that door, it is a race to get to your locker and get out of the school. You are lucky if you only get pushed down to the ground once.Caitlin and I slowly started to pack up so that we would have a head start. But slowly so the teacher didn't catch us.
I'm a terribly shy person so I have a hard time sticking up for myself, so thank the Lord for Caitlin or I don't know if I still would be here.
I looked over at Caitlin then back at the clock. The seconds seemed to go faster and faster.
Five
Four
Three
Two
One
And as the sharp ringing of the bell cuts through the silence of the math room everyone piles out of the classroom.
Caitlin and I were the first ones out and we ran as fast as we could to our lockers.
We would've made it if miss-I'm-so-popular-you-must-worship-me didn't show up.
"Where do you think you're going?" She sneered at us.
"To our lockers..." I said really, really quietly.
"I can't hear you! Speak louder!" She ordered.
I cringed at the sound of her voice and felt the fear growing.
"To our lockers." I said louder but it was still really quiet.
Curse my shyness!
"Look speak louder or-"
"Just shut up Jessica and leave us alone!" Caitlin shouted at her.
Of course a small crowd started to form around us and I wanted to crawl up in a hole.
"What did you just say to me?" She hissed.
"You heard me!" Caitlin shot back.
Jessica raised her hand ready to slap Caitlin, and for some reason I had a sudden burst of confidence that I grabbed her hand and yelled at her,
"Don't touch her!"
Jessica and everyone else was taken back at the fact that I yelled at her.
"What did you say?"
I gulped, where did my confidence go?
"Um...I said don't touch her."
"You little......" she went on to call us almost all of the unprintable words.
She raised her hand again and I closed my eyes waiting for the harsh slap.
"That's enough."
That doesn't sound like a girl's voice. It's too deep.
I opened my eyes and looked over at Caitlin who was as white and snow.
I looked where she was looking and I think I became snow too.
Ryan Black, quarterback of the school and the cutest guy on the earth. (In my opinion he was just a guy. I don't have a crush on anyone.) was holding Jessica's hand back and told her not to make a seen.
My mouth dropped all the way to the floor and I couldn't believe what just happened.
"What just happened?" I whispered over to Caitlin.
"I don't know. This has never happened before."
That was the first time anyone has stood up for us.
