A Shy Girl & A Wild Pony
Chapter 9~
I stopped, suddenly all of reality hitting me full force. I threw the knife as hard as I could away from me as my shaky hands wrapped around my torso and a shriek left my mouth. I curled up into a ball and tears started to leak down my cheeks.
"I didn't mean to...." I whispered completely disgusted in myself that I almost killed myself.
I heard running footsteps and the door swung open and the man who was supposed to be my father barged in and saw my brokenness and covered his mouth when he saw the knife of the floor and me crying.
"Becca did you hurt yourself? Tell me! Are you okay!" He asked in a loud voice that was filled worry. He stepped closer to me but I scooted away from his out-stretched arms.
"Stay away from me... Don't come can't closer." I snapped and my voice cracked and I could see pure hurt in his eyes as he was trying not to cry.
I was shaking furiously and tears were in constant flow and I was hurting so much.
"Becca please, don't do this to me.... I love you." He whimpered and took another step towards me.
I jumped off the floor and held my arms out telling him not to come closer.
"You did this to me.... You made me this monster...." I said with a shaky voice. With that he crumbled to the ground and covered his face as he started to sob.
I took that moment and jumped over his shaking body, those were harsh words to say, but so is leaving your only daughter because you didn't want the responsibility of taking care of her.
I ran down the hallway, still a crying mess and I'm pretty sure that I broke the front door in the process of running through it... Oops.
I ran on to the porch and down the dirt road towards a barn possibly, but as I rounded the corner, yellow eyes that seemed to glow in the dark meet mine. I screamed and fell back onto the hard ground and tried to scoot back. I heard a loud snort and the creature reared up and ran towards me. It was as black as the night and the only thing I could see was the eyes. I screamed again, and covered my face with my arms and waited for my doom.
I heard the creature come to a halt and I could feel it's hot breath on my neck. I opened my eyes and now they were adjusted to the dark and I could see better. But when I looked at the yellow eyes that were a few inches from mine, I realized that the creature was actually white and a muscular body was attached. I suddenly realized that I was face to face with the most beautiful and biggest horse I had ever seen in my whole entire life. I was frozen stiff and the horse started to nibble on my hair.
"Hey cut that out!" I swatted him away and tried to stand but my legs were very shaky and it took awhile before I could stand properly. I stood up and realized how tall the horse actually was. He was all-white and was a bit taller than me. I ran my hand over his huge and muscular neck then my hand came in contact with a rope around his neck.
"Did you run away?" I asked in a pouty voice. Yes, I am talking to a horse.
The horse snorted and I grabbed the rope and looked around for anyone near, but to my luck there was none.
"Hello! Runaway horse here!" I called out and the horse jumped a little at my voice.
There was no answer, but it was pitch black.
"Well what am I going to do with you?" I asked the horse and rubbed it's rather soft nose.
I kept rubbed the horses face until I heard footsteps behind me. I felt my stomach turn and my heart skip a beat. Oh please don't be the police, I swear I didn't steal the horse.
"Becca, I know you're hurting but we really need to talk." I heard my father's voice and I turned only heel to face him.
I starred wide eyed at him and when he saw the white stallion behind me, his face went pale and his eyes widened.
"Becca.. Slowly back away from the horse." His voice was low and alarmed.
"Why? He's so mellow, he wouldn't hurt a fly." I smiled at the horse and rubbed his nose.
"Becca, that is a wild mustang. That horse had seriously hurt many people and even killed someone. That horse is rogue, please for your own safety, come here." His voice was pleading and I could see fear in his eyes.
"Then why is he like this around me? He doesn't look like a wild mustang." I said with a softer voice. "Plus, he has a rope around his neck."
"Many people have tried to break his spirit so he can be a race horse. But simply anyone who touches him, gets hurt. He is not safe."
I looked back at the horse and then at the man before me.
"I want him." I said plainly.
"What?" He almost choked.
"I want him. He isn't anyone's right? He seems mellow now, he doesn't look like he is going hurt anyone." I begged him, my anger for him suddenly melting away.
"Becca, this horse is dangerous. He may look cute and cuddly now but he is rogue."
"Please please please! Can you just give me just the one thing that I want? You owe it to me." I put my hands on my hips sassily with the rope in my hand.
He just sighed deeply and for a few moments said nothing.
"Fine, but he stays in the paddock away from the other horses and animals, I don't need him getting the animals fired up."
"Thank you!" I shrieked happily and gripped the rope and pulled the horse toward the nearest paddock I could find.
"Oh and you need to be with someone experienced with horses when you are with that horse. I don't want you to get hurt." He called out.
"Okay!" I yelled back but didn't exactly hear what he said, I was just so happy that I had my first horse.
