01 || Dreams

note: all of the toons live on one floor, all having their own area. this isn't canon, but I just wanted to put this in here. I thought it would be easier if they lived like this lol

Astro was trying to get some sleep, the clock ticking as it struck 9 pm. He would usually be asleep by now, if it weren't for the small group of Toons asking for "good dreams" and "healthy sleep" and whatnot. He paced around his room a bit, not sure about what to do with the crowd. Astro looked through the peephole in his door, sliding a cover off of it with one of his thumbs. Maybe if he just ignored them, they'd leave him alone. Maybe. After a good 10 or so minutes of waiting, it was just Toodles with Vee watching over her, since it was late at night and Toodles was a child. Astro took a deep breath, opening his door with a swift motion of his wrist. "Come on, Toodles.. you can't come in here and ask for good dreams every night." Astro bent down a tad to reach Toodles's height, holding onto one of her hands. "Awhh! One more time! One more time! Pleeease? I promise I won't ask again for a long, long time!" Toodles whined out, holding her pillow with her other hand. Vee stood behind her with a hand on her right shoulder, gesturing towards Toodles with a nodding motion as Astro looked at her. "Come on, this is the last time. She promises, right?" Vee nudged Toodles with her elbow gently, with her reaction being a small flinch. "Yeah! Yeah! One more time!" She spoke excitedly, bouncing up and down on her heels. Astro sighed slightly, but he couldn't help the small smile that crept on his face. "..fine. Come on, both of ya.." He opened the door fully, allowing Vee and Toodles to come inside. Toodles grinned widely, almost immediately running in and jumping into a pile of pillows. Vee yawned as she slowly walked in, tired from having to take care of Toodles all day. Roger was busy with a case, and Vee (without really thinking) said she could help with Toodles. She regretted it. Astro closed the door behind them, following close behind Vee and sitting on his knees beside the two girls. "Alright.. Toodles, what do you want your dreams to be?" Astro inquired, holding onto both of Toodles's hands. She thought for a moment, making an audible "hm..." noise she most likely didn't know she was making. "Oh! Oh! I want to rule the world! With Roger, yeah! Yeah!" Toodles replied excited, bouncing in the pile of pillows, followed by the sound of them shuffling and a slight yelp coming from her mouth before she stopped moving. "Again?" He questioned again, tilting his head. This was the 3rd time this month she wanted to rule the world in her dreams. "This kid is gonna be a pain in her teens.." Astro thought to himself, the thought getting tossed to the back of his mind. Toodles shook her head up and down quickly, smiling widely. "Yeah! Again! Again!" She exclaimed with a giggle, before calming down and waiting for Astro to do his "magical sleepy stuff" as she called it. In reality, it was more like a mist and scents than anything. "Vee? Would you like a dream after I do her's..?" Astro held his other two hands out for Vee to hold, which she did. "Sure. Nothing too special, don't want to overwhelm ya, bud..!" Vee spoke with a nod, scooting closer to the other two. Astro took a deep breath in, nodding. "Alrighty, gotcha.." His voice was quieter now, his eyes closed as he tried to focus. It's been hard for him to use his ability lately, and tonight was no exception. Astro muttered to himself, inaudible for Toodles and Vee. Although troubling, he managed to use the ability, as a light blue mist surrounded the three of them. Toodles squinted her eyes shut, not wanting the mist to get in her eyes. It happened once, as she's been overly cautious ever since. Vee did the same, although one eye stayed in a squint, eyeing Astro as he worked. There was a visible struggle, but Vee chose to talk about it later. She knew if she said something now, Toodles would get worried and not be able to sleep at all. The mist soon cleared, with Astro letting go of the girls' hands. "There we go.. now, off to bed. It's already 9:30.. don't want to be groggy in the morning, do we?" Astro inquired once more, standing up swiftly. Vee and Toodles followed suit, with Vee grasping onto one of Toodles's hands. "Yep! I'll go tuck her in bed. C'mon, Toodles." "Bye bye Astro! Night night! Sweet dreams!" Vee gave Astro a wave as she left, dragging Toodles along as she said goodbye to Astro. He followed after them, closing the door behind them with a wave. "Goodnight, Vee. Goodnight, Toodles." He shut the door with a click, locking it. Astro let out a gentle breath he didn't know he was holding, resting his head against the door. He's been feeling.. strange lately. He didn't know what was causing it or how. All he knew was that ever since his last interaction with.. Him.. he's been feeling this way. Astro shrugged it off for now, walking towards his bed. He took a pillow from the pile, holding it tight against his waist. He climbed into the bed, wrapping his arms and legs around the pillow. Astro sighed again, muttering to himself and the pillow.
