Klludd's POV:
Sorrenn and I were searching for food deep in the forest of Tyttoshire, but we knew our way back because our scent can lead us home. Soon we found some fruit near a stream.
"Well, we better get these home so that we can begin our feast before you leave our home to go wherever you want." Sorrenn said.
"Yeah." I said right after. Right as we finished picking the fruit, it suddenly began to rain. If we didn't get home soon, the precipitation would wash away our scent.
"We're going to have a problem if we lose our way." Sorrenn explained. There was a hooting sound, but we hardly even heard it over our minds talking. The hooting sound came a second time.
"Must've been an owl." I thought out loud, unsure if I was wrong. My answer came fast when the hoots came a third time, but it was even louder than before. Sorrenn and I froze in place.
"That didn't sound like an owl." Sorrenn said, looking as if he was fearing for my life. The sounds seemed to be really close by, in the jungle, somewhere off to our right. As we listened, we heard a crash sound in the underbrush, then silence. We waited, then heard it again. It sounded like something big moving slowly through the jungle towards us. Something big. Something near. A big Creature unseen. Then the same thought came to our minds.
'GET OUT OF HERE!'
We began to run. We made a lot of noise as we ran. But even so, we could still hear the animal crashing through the foliage and the hooting was coming closer. Stumbling over tree roots in the darkness, clawing our way past low hanging branches, we saw the lights leading to the tree where our hollow was built into. It slightly made us feel better. In a moment, we'd have touched the bark of our home tree and then we'd climb our way out of here. We looked around the tree for anything dangerous, then we froze.
THE ANIMAL WAS ALREADY THERE!
But it wasn't close.
The creature was reptilian by the looks of it, walked bipedal, had a pair of red V-shaped crests on its head and was ten feet tall with yellow skin that had black spots. It was at least a few feet taller than us scratazons. At least the tall ones. It was about 30 or 40 feet away and neither of us moved a muscle. The creature made the same hooting sounds from before, but it stood still. It was staring at us, then it snapped its head in a single swift motion. Sorrenn and I dodged the attack as the glob smacked wetly against the tree behind us. The animal nearly spat at us. Goodness gracious, it was disgusting. I made the mistake of looking at the creature as it spat again. This time, it got me in my right eye. As I screamed in terror and agony, I felt a sudden excruciating pain in said eye. The foam was trickling down the right side of my face. I wiped some of it off, but my paw started to burn and tingle. It was almost as if it was touched by acid. Although the spit didn't get into my left eye, I dare not open it for fear that the creature would spit there. I felt the animal was coming closer. Despite the pain, I forced my right eye open, but I could only see darkness save for a bunch of flashing spots of light against black. Slowly the realization came to me: I was half-blind.
The hooting was louder as I scrambled to my feet, a wave of nausea and dizziness swept over me. The creature was coming closer now. I could feel it coming closer. I was deemly aware of its snorting breath. I stretched out my paws, waving them wildly in the air to ward off the attack i knew was coming. My terror was very extreme. Then there was a slashing of some sort of blade and the creature suddenly gagged, and I sensed someone was behind it. I felt the creature was mere inches in front of me, but then I felt a thick slippery mass that was surprisingly warm and a horrifying realization came. I was holding the creature's intestinal tract in hand. Someone had torn it open! The creature's guts were spilling out! I finally opened my left eye and saw that sorrenn was nowhere to be seen. I looked in front of me and discovered a tytto scratazon, but it was a female and was all white. Before I could try to thank her, I suddenly realized I was suffering from paralysis. Must've been something that followed the blindness, nausea, dizziness and terror. Before I knew it, I fell on my side as my breathing slowly became shallow and raspy. Then as I began to fall into unconsciousness, one last thought crossed my mind.
That it would all be ended soon.
