The afternoon sun streamed through the tall windows of the Hogwarts Great Hall, casting long shadows across the bustling tables. Blaise Zabini, a tall and confident Slytherin, sat at his house table, his dark eyes scanning the room with a mixture of boredom and curiosity. As usual, the usual chatter and clatter filled the hall, but today something was different—something that drew Blaise's attention away from his usual routine.
Across the room, at the Gryffindor table, a new girl was sitting, her presence starkly contrasting with the familiar faces around her. Her name was Elara, and she had recently joined Hogwarts, having transferred from a smaller wizarding school. Her striking auburn hair and bright green eyes made her stand out amidst the sea of students, and she seemed to be adjusting to her new surroundings with a mixture of awe and nervousness.
Blaise's interest was piqued. He leaned back in his chair, observing her with a subtle smile. His curiosity was not one easily ignited, but something about Elara's presence intrigued him. She was different—her aura, her demeanor, the way she seemed to absorb every new detail with a mix of excitement and apprehension.
"Why do you look so interested?" Draco Malfoy's voice interrupted Blaise's thoughts. Draco had noticed his friend's distracted state and followed his gaze. "You've got that look on your face."
Blaise glanced at Draco and then back at Elara. "Just curious," he replied nonchalantly. "Never seen her before. She's new, isn't she?"
Draco raised an eyebrow. "She's from Gryffindor. Haven't you heard? She's been here for a few days now. Pretty quiet for a Gryffindor, though.""Hmm," Blaise murmured, his mind already made up. "I think I'll go and introduce myself."
Draco chuckled. "Good luck. Gryffindors can be a bit... unpredictable."Blaise stood up, smoothing his robes with practiced ease. He made his way through the hall, his steps measured and confident. As he approached the Gryffindor table, he could feel the eyes of his fellow Slytherins on him, but he paid them no mind. His focus was solely on Elara.
"Excuse me," Blaise said, his voice smooth and polite as he reached her side. Elara looked up, surprised, her green eyes meeting his with a mixture of curiosity and caution.
"Yes?" she responded, her tone tentative."I'm Blaise Zabini," he said, offering a charming smile. "I couldn't help but notice that you're new here. Thought I'd come over and introduce myself."Elara's expression softened slightly. "Oh, thank you. I'm Elara. I just transferred here recently."
"It's nice to meet you, Elara," Blaise said, taking a seat across from her. "How are you finding Hogwarts so far?"
Elara sighed, a small smile playing on her lips. "It's quite overwhelming, to be honest. Everything is so different from my old school. But I'm managing."Blaise leaned forward, intrigued. "I can imagine. Hogwarts can be quite a lot to take in at first. If you ever need any help navigating this place or just want someone to show you around, feel free to ask."
Elara's smile grew wider. "That's very kind of you. I might just take you up on that offer."
Blaise's eyes sparkled with amusement. "I look forward to it. And if you ever need a break from the Gryffindor table, you know where to find me."
As he stood to leave, Blaise gave her a final, reassuring smile before heading back to his own table. Elara watched him go, a sense of relief and excitement bubbling up inside her. It seemed that Hogwarts, despite its intimidating reputation, might not be so daunting after all.And Blaise, returning to his friends, couldn't help but feel that his day had taken a turn for the better.
