It was a crisp, winter evening in Hogsmeade, the kind of evening where the air felt electric, and the snow fell softly from the sky, blanketing everything in shimmering white. Isla Nott could hardly contain her excitement as she and Mattheo Riddle made their way to the enchanted ice skating rink that had been set up near the Three Broomsticks. Her eyes sparkled as she gazed at the perfectly smooth ice, illuminated by soft lanterns floating above it.

"This is perfect," she whispered, her breath forming little clouds in the cold air. Isla had always dreamed of being a professional ice skater, and while she spent most of her time focused on her studies and Slytherin duties, moments like this felt like a little taste of that dream.

Mattheo looked at her, his lips curling into a fond smile. He had never been one for skating—his talents lay more in dark magic and charming his way through life—but seeing Isla so happy made it all worth it. He was already dressed in warm layers, a Slytherin-green scarf wrapped around his neck, looking effortlessly handsome despite his obvious hesitation about what lay ahead on the ice.

"Are you sure about this?" Mattheo asked, raising an eyebrow as they approached the rink. "I'm not exactly graceful."

Isla laughed, the sound light and warm. "You'll be fine, Riddle. I'll teach you. Besides, you're already great at everything else. Let me have this one."

She tugged on his hand, pulling him toward the edge of the ice. Isla was already wearing her skates—sleek, polished white boots with silver laces—and Mattheo had grudgingly agreed to rent a pair for the evening.

Once they were both on the ice, Isla took off immediately, gliding with an effortless grace that left Mattheo momentarily stunned. She spun in small circles, her hair flying out behind her, eyes gleaming as the cold air kissed her cheeks.

Mattheo gave a low chuckle, stepping cautiously onto the ice. He wasn't as steady as Isla, but he kept his balance. For someone who rarely did anything outside the world of magic, it was an interesting challenge. "I'm assuming I should just follow your lead?" he called out.

Isla slowed down and skated over to him, grabbing both his hands. "You're doing great!" she said with a bright smile. "Just relax. Let the ice guide you."

Together, they skated hand in hand, Mattheo following her lead as they glided across the rink. Though he stumbled a few times, Isla's laughter always filled the air, lifting his spirits. She twirled around him at one point, her moves flawless, like she belonged on the ice.

"Where did you learn to skate like this?" Mattheo asked as she spun gracefully.

"I've been practicing since I was little," Isla explained, her voice soft but full of excitement. "It's always been a dream of mine to skate professionally, you know? But with everything at Hogwarts, it felt too far away."

Mattheo's eyes softened. "You could still make that dream happen. You're incredible, Isla. You deserve it."

She smiled, slowing down and pulling him close, her arms wrapping around his neck as they stood in the middle of the rink. "Thank you," she whispered, her breath warm against the cool air. "I didn't think you'd actually come out here with me."

"I'd do anything to see you smile like that," he said, his voice low and sincere. He leaned in, brushing his lips against her forehead. "Even if it means making a fool of myself on the ice."

Isla laughed softly and pressed her forehead against his. "You're not making a fool of yourself. You're perfect."

For the rest of the evening, they continued skating, lost in their own little world. The cold didn't bother them, nor did the fact that Mattheo wasn't the most graceful on the ice. All that mattered was that they were together, sharing a moment that felt like pure magic. And for Isla, it was a taste of a dream she had held close to her heart for so long—one she was now living out with the boy she loved by her side.
